Boardwalk Empire 12/11 spoilers

Holy cow! Jimmy. I knew it'd eventually happen but I had no idea so soon.

Re: Boardwalk Empire 12/11 spoilers

  • Noooooooo, not Jimmy!!!  And Margaret, have you completely lost your mind?

  • I almost LOL'd at Margaret signing the Deed to the church!

I feel really bad for Jimmy's kid.  I can ONLY hope that he set something up for him to be taken care of because I can't imagine he wants his mother to take care of him.

  • Not my Jimmy!!!! I loved him. :(   Oh I'm so sad about this and usually I don't really care all that much.My first thought was that I'm not going to watch anymore, but I know I won't do that.

And WTH was Margaret thinking? I mean, I guess I know what she was thinking, but does she really think Nucky will let that go? Yikes.

  • I was shocked about Jimmy at first, but more about taking a meeting with Nucky in the middle of nowhere at night and going alone.  The minute he showed up I knew he was dead, but it was just a matter of who than when with that crowd.  I don't think he did anything to take care of his kid since he walked into it so blindly.  From the previews, I knew something big was coming, but didn't think it would be this big yet.  I think his Mother is going to go into a state of BSC next season after losing everything except her grandson and look for serious revenge.

Margaret shocked me first by her sudden change of heart to confess everything and marry Nucky.  With the way her family responded to her coming back to them she was really feeling the guilt, but I didn't think she'd marry Nucky right away or sign the land over to the church.  She knew she had to marry him or testify against him eventually since she told him to memorize everything and burned the books for him.  It's going to be interesting how Nucky responds because now he's ordered one hit, killed another, had the election fraud thing, and other charges all of which Margaret knew about making her an accomplice.  She didn't even seem to fully buy the Jimmy story about him reenlisting.  She's too smart not to know what's going on and knows too much for Nucky to divorce or kill her.  He also really seems to like having a son and family or at least the appearance of one.

I wasn't shocked about Van Alder running, but was when I figured out how close he is to Capone in Chicago .  He's in Cicero, IL just outside of the city since the church that the rooming house lady mentioned is actually still there.  I don't think they are done with him yet and he's going to have to turn to survive.  That's going to get very interesting.

It was a great season and got all kinds of Emmys and Emmy nods, but not much in the way of acting.  I think that HBO really wants to change that and make it more successful next season and killed off characters to expand others and bring in some new actors that will get noticed.

Hi. Usually lurk here but coming out of hiding :) He did set his kid up by tearing up the will. In the event of his death, all of the commodores money/property goes to his son. I think he knew full well what would happen when he took that meeting which is why he told Richard to stay home and showed up unarmed (after giving his dog tags to his son). I think he had so much guilt over everything it was the only way, in his mind, to make things right. I loved his character so much, I'm going to miss him :(

Agree with this. I think the convo where he told his son about going under the boardwalk by himself was another form of closure that he knew Tommy could get away from Gillian if he needed to.

So sad Jimmy will be gone though. If anyone watched the 'Inside the Episode' after the show On Demand, they had some good insights. One of my favorite lines from the episode was where Jimmy talked about already dying in the trenches. They went into more detail of why they showed the trench scene. How this was Jimmy's time of real death and leaving the trenches was really going into the unknown, just like he was as he moved on to death.

I agree about Margaret not buying Jimmy reenlisting too. I think she signed away the land to "atone" for Nucky's behavior and her involvement/knowledge of everything, even though she doesn't have a direct hand in it. It reminds me a lot of the conflict you saw with Carmela in 'The Sopranos' with her knowledge of what her husband does and how she gets her nice things and her faith and not believing in leaving him. I think Margaret married him for the reasons she discussed with the prosecutor (I can't remember her name)...not only is he not cruel to her & her children, he loves them. I definitely think after years of being beaten & seeing your children beat, seeing a man help your child after battling a disease like polio, it's hard to not secure that happier life for them.

  • Uggh...this episode was so depressing.  I didn't think Nucky would be the one to kill Jimmy and I thought the whole ending was sad. I think Jimmy knew it was over when he tore up the will, knowing his father's fortune would be passed on to his son.  The scene with his son at the beach was heartbreaking. Jimmy went downhill ever since the death of Angie and when he admitted he died in the trenches...and the final scene....I watched it again last night.

I think the actor who played Jimmy was outstanding, such a brooding role for him and would like to see him in future series and films.  Reminds me of a young DeCaprio.

Margaret knows what she is doing, it will be interested how her marriage with Nucky will play out and with Owen still in the picture.  I love this series!!

I must have missed the part about the money going to his son, but I don't think he took care of his son sense that his mother was the only one left to raise him.  Jimmy, Angie, and The Commodore were his only family besides his mother who molested him.  The kid is too young to be left with someone like her, especially since she will probably end up as guardian and trustee for the kid's money.  I can see her taking everything she can.
