Hypothetical

You're new at a company, working temporarily.  You realize that the company (at management level) is doing something that allows clients of that company to cheat the system and ultimately this affects the profits of said company (not to a huge extent, but somewhat). It's likely that the problem has an easy fix.

Re: Hypothetical

  • Do you know that clients are cheating the system? What's the cheat's worth?

  • I think it depends on the industry.  If I'm working retail and the managers give customers additional coupons even though it says "one per customer", I'm not really going to care.  But if this was some sort of industry where a lot of money was involved (investments, etc), then I'd probably tell a manager.
  • Depending on the severity of the issue, I'd document it and then report it to appropriate channels upon the end of my temp employment.
