gate check or baggage check car seat?
Trying too figure out the logistic for when we travel in 2 weeks.
DH, C and I are flying to CO. We will be gate checking our jogging stroller but I'm trying to decide on what to do with our car seat.
She's under two so we didn't purchase her a seat. I'm not sure if there will be seats available or not.
Re: gate check or baggage check car seat?
if you have the hands to carry it, i'd gate check it just for the simple fact of knowing it's getting on the right plane and not out in the weather.
i left houston once and it started POURING when they'd already rolled the luggage out to the plane. my luggage was freaking soaked when we got to mississippi, it would super suck if something like that happened to a carseat.

very good point. We plan on checking everything(minus her diaper bag) so we will have hands. I'm looking for a car seat bag that has a strap to wear across your body.
definitely gate check it.
then you KNOW its going on your plane and no where else.
Gate check. The ONE time we luggage checked it, none of the luggage made it home on time. Luckily, it was home and the car left at the airport had 2 car seats in it. It could have sucked so bad had it been even slightly different.
There are several kinds of trolleys you can buy. We used a GoGoKidz and actually pulled the kiddo through the airport strapped in to the car seat. THere is also a travel bag with wheels for car seats that I've seen at Right Start. I remember hearing once that someone also used it to shove some extra stuff in that would have made the luggage over weight.
Gah they don't get back until Christmas day at 3pm. Are you flying out of IAH if it's in the afternoon we could swap there.
I have a friend who has one. If they are not going anywhere I could get that one for you.
So Tasty, So Yummy
We just flew to CO in Nov. and luggage checked K's big booster seat and the first thing they do it put it in a HUGE industrial plastic bag, so it's likely not going to get wet. And we had no trouble retrieveing it at baggage claim along with all our other luggage. And the big bag we put it in wasn't even ripped/damaged, or anything.
But, in your case, I agree, gate checking sounds ideal.
