  • 1. Hobbies? Painting, making jewelry, graphic design, women's ministry stuff, reading, baking, watching movies, dancing, etc.

    2. How many kids do you want? 3 at least :)

    3. Favorite thing/moment from your wedding? Probably our first dance... That was when it really hit both of us and we became emotional.

    4. Are you done with Christmas shopping yet? Pretty much, just have to get something from my MIL. Online shopping and I have a love/hate relationship.

    5. Favorite thing to cook/bake? Hmm... Cake balls/ Cake pops/ Cake truffles-- whatever you call them.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How did you get started in photography?  I always had an appreciation for photography. My dad bought me an old Minolta film SLR in college and I've just never quit. Now that I do it professionally, all-day every-day though, I miss the time in my life when I was a hobbyist- when I would photograph anything and everything just for fun. I used to travel a lot more than I do now- I would just walk and shoot. ::sigh::

What is/are your favorite subject(s) to shoot? I LOVE shooting newborns. That's my current obsession (probably because I'm still relatively new to it.) I also like shooting engagements and bridals... However, I'm not a big fan of weddings. lol

Favorite vacation you've ever been on? Hmmm... My honeymoon was AWESOME. I haven't been on a lot of "vacations" but I have traveled quite extensively. I loooove the Hudson Valley area of New York.

Have you always lived in Oklahoma? Born and raised in Broken Arrow. But I went to college in Dallas, Nashville, and Stillwater.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How did you know C was the one? I kind of felt in on the phone before we ever met (eHarmony couple.) It's a little lame, but our first kiss was MAGIC. I have never felt anything like it, before or since really. I went away to Miami for business for 2 weeks the day after our first date... sometime during that trip I knew.

Favorite spot for a date night? We're dinner and a movie/drinks people. I love doing the balcony at the Warren or trying a new restaurant. I enjoy "doing things" on dates too though, like taking a cooking class or painting, or going rock-climbing... things like that (we just hardly ever do it.) haha

Do you have any regrets in life? Hmm... Not really. I wish I would have come into a relationship with God much sooner than I did (because I filled that void with toxic things like bad boyfriends, alcohol, etc.) But, I think everything that I've been through has just given me more perspective and has allowed me to have a richer testimony.

How are you in an argument? I used to pull the "crazy ex girlfriend" routine in relationships past- screaming, slamming doors, throwing things, etc. Now I'm pretty quiet, I try to figure out exactly what/how to say what's on my mind, I cry, and when I feel like C isn't hearing my true heart during an argument, I stonewall and walk off... TOTALLY unhealthy, but it happens.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Vacation spot you're dying to go to? I am DYING to go to Italy- to eat and drink my way through the entire county... and maybe France too. HUGE wino and foodie.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I love living here and being relatively close to family... but I could really live just about anywhere. I love San Diego/ Oceanside, Temeculah, CA- love Colorado, especially Estes Park- I could do Nashville again (it is SUCH a fun city!)- and like I said ^^ my favorite town in the US is Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown NY... I love the history and the scenery, love the community feel of living in a Burrough, and it's only 30 minutes from NYC- 2 hours from Boston (one of my other favorite places to visit.)

Use three words to describe how 2011 has been for you. BUSY. Challenging. JOYFUL.

What's your favorite sweet [candy, dessert etc.]? Anything that combines chocolate and caramel. Milky Way Caramels are a straight up gift from God. ;)

Favorite TV show? I watch way more TV than I should. Parenthood, Bones, Will & Grace reruns.

  • Do you want any more tattoos? If so, what do you think you would get and where would you put it? I might. I would probably get scripture from my shoulder to my neck, or something on my shoulder blade - like my hummingbird logo.

What do you like about your job? Day job or Studio Westway?? lol I like the flexibility of my day job and that I don't have to deal with office politics or wake up super early to "get ready"... I could work in sweats if I wanted to. I love SW because it's my true passion.

What do you dislike about your job? My day job is SUPER tedious and can be very challenging to my mental health (driving around by myself 6 hours a day = too much time to think sometimes). ;) Editing... Sometimes editing can overwhelm me.

What's your favorite thing about your new house? We just got a new sectional in the "man room" and I just love curling up in there and watching movies with DH. I also love my new home office... I just need to get some photos up on the walls. haha

If you could have a "do-over" for anything in your life, what would it be? Ooooh... I would have spent more time with my grandpa before he passed away.

  • Do you mind sharing your testimony?
    I would love to.

I was raised in a Christian home, but my father wasn't involved in the family faith. My mom, sister, and I went to church twice a week- I was involved in choir, handbells, service, etc. Acted in the plays, did vacation bible school, went to church camp. ALL OF IT. When I was 13 and going through "the change" I started getting a lot of attention from guys (attention I wasn't getting from my verbally and emotionally [to my other siblings, physically] abusive father.) At church camp that year, I was touched inappropriately by a boy a year older than me- and I never went back. I was still a goodie-two-shoes through middle school and up until I was 15. That same boy asked me to the movies (don't know why I said yes)- my mom chaperoned- but when he came home with us, he locked me in my room and started ripping my clothes off... My dad busted down the door and beat the ever-living $hit out of him.
I lost my virginity at 16 to a boy who was a Christian (we even went to church together)-- he told me he loved me, blah blah... He cheated on me SEVERAL times. I was the prototypical "girl with daddy issues" and I stayed with him off and on until my 20th birthday... While still dating other boys, was physically abused, and even raped once. From the time I lost my viriginity until I came to know the Lord again when I was 22... my "roster" had reached the twenties.
It wasn't until I graduated from college, broke up with my 30th or 40th boyfriend, moved home, and started attending church with my aunt and uncle that I finally stopped trying to fill the void meant for a relationship with God, with other things. My aunt mentored me for a year and during that time we read Sex God by Rob Bell (if you haven't read it-- YOU NEED TO). I recommitted my life to God, reconcilled with my father, and realized that I am precious and loved... THAT'S when my life started making sense. I met Chad when I was 24 and he is a true spiritual leader- he loves me just as I am and holds me accountable- he encourages me to make him my number two priority after my relationship with God.

I'm not proud of a lot of that... but, it is what it is. I love the life I've been blessed with and I wouldn't change a thing.

Thanks for sharing! What an awesome testimony (not awesome that you went through all of that, but it all led to an awesome outcome.)

What would you consider your decorating style? Modern/traditional... Comfortable. I love a lot of color pops, mixing textures, interesting textiles, etc. I don't like a lot of clutter and ironically, I don't have a lot of artwork/photography on my walls- I like to use statement pieces.

Where do you like to shop for home decor? I like Homegoods and any of the antique/individually owned booth stores like The Feathered Nest and The Market in Edmond. And of course, the HoeLow (Hobby Lobby). :)

Do you plan to build/move again or are you in your forever home?  I'm sure we'll build again at some point. This house would work as a 5-10 year home. However, I'd like to have an in-law suite, another garage space or additional storage, a space to use as a playroom for future kids, and a space to use as a studio for in-home sessions (ideally I would build a separate space in the backyard for this but we need more land.)
