Moving back to Oklahoma

Hey ladies,

I'm moving back to Oklahoma/going to OU to finish up school while my husband is deployed during 2012. I've been at Fort Bragg, NC for a couple years now so I'm really not familiar with what's going on in the Tinker AFB/Fort Sill area (I'll be living in Norman).

Just wondering if anyone is aware of any good support programs in that area besides FRG? I know here we have book clubs and things like that to keep us busy while our husbands are gone. I just don't really know any other military wives there and it's always nice to have friends close by who understand what deployment and military life are like.

Thanks for any info you can give!

Re: Moving back to Oklahoma

  • We're at Fort Sill, I know Norman is a little bit of a drive(to me anyway) so do you plan on coming to Fort Sill if you find a group? There's a group on FB that you can join for getting together. I'm in the group and we do brunch once a week and also coffee once a week. If you're interested in that you can PM me and I'll give you the link. Other than that, I don't really know about any other sort of groups here. We got here a couple of months ago though and I've really enjoyed getting together with those ladies.

  • DH is Army, we're in Moore. Tinker actually has quite a bit of things to do. They offer dance lessons (ballroom to modern) and stuff like the book clubs you mentioned. There is usually always something going on. DH was deployed 2010, I hope it passes by quickly and safely for you. Don't hesitate to PM when you get here if you need anything.
