I just called Frontier customer service to check if there are any rules about gate checking my stroller (how it needs to be secured, etc,) and I was obviously talking to someone in a different country.
She was friendly, but English was not her first language, and her answer seemed kind of off-the-cuff and almost like she was only kind of understanding what I was talking about.
I am just a person who likes to have all of the information I can ahead of time - if I know I have done all I can, then I am better able to roll with the punches when things still don't go as planned (I know that seems strange, but it is true.)
Todd just kind of goes into things totally blind but always expecting the most idealistic version of things, and when it doesn't happen he seems confused and upset - I like to be the gal who knows what to expect, knows if something isn't going right, and then I can make a decision about what will get me the outcome needed.
I think it is time for another chorus of "Oh At-i-van, oh At-i-van," (to the tune of Oh Tannenbaum,) Keri.
I know all will be fine - I will be a mess right up until we start packing and then all of the info I am soaking up now will kick in and I will switch to "NBD I've totally got this" mode. It is the magic of Keri.
Still -I wish I could talk to someone who inspired more confidence with an answer.

Don't worry about gate checking the stroller. Remember, probably most of the employes have children, and travelled with them. They'll understand.
When you are at TSA, head for the 'travelling with children' line. Everyone in that line will understand it might take you a long time to get through the security nonesense, and the people working that line are stroller experts, etc.
And gate checking is as easy and walking up to someone at the gate and telling them to check your stroller. They'll put a tag on it, and then you'll leave it at the end of the ramp before you board the plane. 9 times out of 10, it will be there when you get off, if not, you'll find it at baggage claim.
You'll do great!
Thanks - I did find those pages, just had some additional questions.

We've done a lot of traveling with V & haven't ever had any problems gatechecking any of our stuff. We fold it down as much as we would to put it in the car & take any misc items off of it so that they don't get caught on something or lost. Most airlines will make you sign a waiver when you gatecheck that states that they aren't responsible for damage but will cover loss (usually only up to $200 or something though). I've seen lots of people use those red canvas gate check bags for their strollers but it's been easier for me, b/c I usually travel alone, to be able to get off the plane, quickly set the stroller up with one hand (baby and other junk in the other) and get the heck out of the way asap. If I had to take the whole thing out of the canvas bag, etc., I would freak out I think.
Just simplify & relax.

Yeah - I use that lane anyway, since I always have my injection with me and want the line where folks know it might take a bit longer.
I think it is past nestie posts I am thinking of where people said "do put your stroller in a bag" or "don't put your stroller in a bag" and told other stories of last minute gate check woe that have me spinning a bit about it.

Are you traveling with your City Mini? I LOVED traveling with ours, was so easy. When you fold it up and put it on the belt for the xray machine make sure to put the wheels up (i put them down and it wouldn't go thru). Also, make sure the little lock thing on the side is locked when you leave it at the door for the guys, otherwise it unfolds and they have no clue how to fold it back up ('Pull To Fold' is confusing I guess). Also, each time we've flown with it it's already on the jetway and unfolded for me, maybe cause they carry it by the handle?
Good luck!!!
We've flown 6 times (3 trips) already with our City Mini + carseat/adapter and love it. We've had to pop one of the wheels off the stroller to make it fit through the x-ray, but it's usually NBD. I've also seen a lot of people wearing their baby through security. Every time, I think I'm going to try that, but then I never do (because I always have DH with me to help with all the "stuff"). We bought a $25 HUGE canvas bag at TRU/BRU that we put the stroller and carseat in when we gate check, but if I didn't have DH there with me, I think I would try to check it ahead of time.
And if this makes you feel any better, our very first trip with E was an emergency bc of a death in the family. I literally had 4 hours from the time we booked the tickets to the time the plane took off, so I just threw whatever I could think of for all 3 of us in bags. We all survived :-) I promise, you'll be a lot better off than I was!
Thanks for the City Mini tips ladies, we are indeed rocking that thing through the airport, I thought about wearing Coop, but frankly I want the extra place for him to hang out while we kill time after we clear security.
Since I practically run through the streets wearing my "I heart my City Mini" sandwich board and ringing my bell, I am looking forward to traveling with it.

Hahaha! Yes, having a place to put the baby is HUGE. That's probably the biggest reason we keep bringing it (if the flight isn't totally booked, they will usually let you bring the carseat on the plane too!)
