Has anyone been "Elf'ed?"

Last night before the Cowboy game, someone rang our doorbell.  DH went to the door to find a note stuck in our wreath saying we had been Elf'ed.  On the doorstep was a nicely wrapped bag of cookies, cake balls and a gingerbread man with a little poem tied to it.

I wanted to eat the cake balls so bad, but I was nervous about eating something made/given by someone I don't know.  Boy, they looked yummy though!!!

That does sound questionable. Have you tried googleing it? Running to google myself.

     EDIT: Found this

  • I saw something like this on a blog I read, but there was a little more to it. Hold on, I'll find it.
  • I haven't, but that's super cute!  If you decide to pass it on, you might include something on your note that you're an anonymous neighbor - so that even though the person you elf doesn't know who you are, at least they know you're not a weirdo.

Also, I would probably eat the goodies, as long as they were packaged well and looked yummy.  I like to live on the edge though.

Nevermind, it was for Halloween. But sounds like the same basic idea. And I'm with Angie, I'd dig in too!

  • I like the idea - and I probably would have eaten them too, Angie.  lol

It's a cute idea to do for co-workers if you're wary of neighborhood sharing.  :)

  • I've never heard of it, but it sounds fun.  Also, I probably would have eaten the cake balls, too, but I can't think of anyone that would want to see me sick or dead.  That being said, I don't even drink milk (or lactaid in my case) even one single day after the expiration date, so...

I've got it!  Have your DH eat one.  If he's still alive/healthy tomorrow, then you know they are safe to eat.  :)

  • I have not been "Elf"ed personally, but I have a FB friend who starts this in her neighborhood every year.   I believe now that you have been 'tagged', you are supposed to make treats and pass them along to keep it going.

    Haha! That's a great plan!
