Decode This Boy Behavior!

So I'm bored and thought we could play a fun decode this boy message game haha.

So last week I had a fun, friendly happy hour with a guy. During the outing, we talked about making other plans and he ended the night with "we should do something again."

Here are the text messages we have exchanged since:

Me (two days later): Hope work isn't kicking your butt this week, Let me know if you need to unwind with another happy hour. Have a great day! (During our happy hour he mentioned how awful work was going to be that week so that's why I sent this).

Him: Lol. It is kicking my butt. We'll work something out definitely.

Me (three days later): So funny enough my friends and I ended up at Murphy's. You're right this a happenin spot on Saturday!  (He had talked about how great this place was and I was skeptical so I was happy to see he was right, I loved the place!)

Him:  Lol. Hope you had fun. Love Murphys.

I was going to ask if he wanted to do dinner but eh I am thinking he is NOT interested in another outing because otherwise he would have planned one. I am a huge believer in not making excuses and admitting "he's just not that into you." I am more than happy to be friends so it's okay. I would love a New Year's Eve date this year though!

I wanted to see what you girls thought of this boy behavior since I am new to the dating world. My friends think he is interested but eh I guess I am way more cynical. If you're interested, you plan a date - simple enough.

Re: Decode This Boy Behavior!

  • leave the ball in his court - there are plenty of other guys out there.

I think "he is not that into you."  I am sure he is a nice guy, had a nice time, and hasn't thought much of it, as his responses don't seem engaging and he isn't initiating any further conversation.

    I agree with this.

  • I'd let it go... You're right, if he wanted to go out he would make a date...
  • I'd let this one go.  If he was interested he would make definite plans and would be initiating contact as well.

Me too. His LOLs followed by two short sentences that don't ask about you or when you're seeing each other again are very telling.  Move on.

  • Yep I agree with you guys. I'm glad my instincts aren't off after being out of the game for awhile. As tempting as it is to make excuses, I think it's just wasting time, I would love a new friend though so I may text him casually but not expect anything.
  • Yeah, I wouldn't text him again. Guys don't typically want new girls in their lives as "friends".

    Leave it and move on.

  • Haha you're right but I want to expand my social circle so when I meet cool guys it's just tempting to try and be friends. I think actually that is my problem, I am sooo sending out friend vibes.
  • You are always the one initiating the contact and you're also hinting at wanting to hang out again.  He's not taking the bait, so all signs indicate he's not into you.

  • Sigh!  The guy I met on Halloween kept doing this to me too, I think everyone else is right - if he was interested, he'd take the bait.

    Yes

Let him & any future guy chase you. If he wants you, he'll come & get you.

Yep. Move on and don't waste time worrying about this dude!

  • I think if he were interested you two would have been out by now. One thing I can say is that when a man has wanted me, I have never been confused or wondering about it, they make it crystal clear.

  • You initiated contact twice, leave it to him from here out but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

This.  Anytime a man has been interested in me I was never left guessing or wondering.

  • I agree with this statement.  You'll come off as desperate, even if you are just trying to be friends
