Ladies who make balls! Come here!

Does anyone make a certain flavor? I plan to attempt them this year. I have AATB's step by step instructions. Now I just need to know flavors.

 Any suggestions?

Depends.  Are you going to decorate them or just dip them? Do you want them to be Christmassy?

  • I've never made them, but I think chocolate/chocolate would be good. Or chocolate/cream cheese.

My neighbor made yellow/chocolate, and the color looked funny to me, but they probably tasted awesome.

  • I've been pondering and have decided that cherry cake mixed with vanilla cream cheese frosting and then dipped in milk chocolate would be delicious and holiday appropriate.
  • That sounds delicious!

Use my above idea, but wrap the cake around a maraschino cherry too. Then after coating, sprinkle with sanding sugar in holiday colours.

    I'm not an expert yet!

  •  I like to use liquor or jam instead of icing in mine. Just use enough to moisten the cake. Flavors from the past:

Devils food cake/ kahlua/ choc coating with caramel drizzle

Lemon cake/ raspberry jam/ white coating/ lemon drizzle (lemon juice and powdered sugar)

White cake/ Malibu rum/ choc coating/ toasted coconut sprinkles

Choc cake/ peppermint schnapps/ choc coating / green drizzle (peppermint extract and powdered sugar)

White cake/ white icing with crushed peppermints or peppermint extract/ white coating and more crushed peppermint

My co-worker did a devils food cake/chocolate icing combo and they were amazing!

  • This thread has made me decide that I am going to make balls (teehee) to bring to my parent's for Christmas.

I think I want to do something dipped in white chocolate so I can add pretty red and green sprinkles.

  • I'd like to make these for Christmas

  • Only you would be able to get them that round. Mine were never that smooth, hence all the drizzle toppings

  • The peppermint ones sound good Sarah! I think I'm going to make Peppermint Bark for my mom's house, but we'll see.
  • Red velvet with cream cheese. Dipped in white chocolate. Yummy and Christmasy.

This is my favorite - red velvet w/ cream cheese frosting, dipped in white chocolate.  I also like yellow cake w/ chocolate frosting, dipped in milk chocolate.

I hate to say it but I did this, a few years ago.  They were disgusting.  Some people liked them, but they were just way way too sweet.

I used a box cake mix through, so maybe you could (and probably should!) control the sugar content if you don't use a box.
