So it's been decided, we're not doing a Christmas tree this year. I don't know why, but I feel really bad about it. I'm from a very traditional German family where Christmas is a big deal and fake Christmas trees are sacrilegious. DH and I have had one every year we were together. We just haven't had the time. With me back on crazy retail schedule and working weekends, and then the whole insulation issue, we haven't been able to go out and get one. And the furniture would have to be moved around, and the dog might pee on it... It was just too much.
Every year my grandma (daughter of a German immigrant) gets us an ornament for the tree, and I know the next time we talk to her she's going to ask about our tree, and she will be sad that we don't have one up. I know she will understand, but I still feel bad about it.
Guess that's just less cleanup for us this year.
Re: We gave up on Christmas
Cards didn't happen either. It's been a lazy holiday season.
