Need help finding a special needs toy - Bumpy balls

I am trying to find a toy called a "Bumpy ball." This is for a toy for an 8-year-old boy through the Casa De Esperanza gift drive. I purchased some from Amazon and it turns out they are for babies, not kids. I'd hate to give him something with babies on the box.

I'd like to take these back and get him some that are for kids, but I can't tell which are for kids. Anyone have an idea how I know if I am getting the right ones?

Oh, and I have to drop them off no later than Friday, so I either need to get them locally or I can get them off Amazon with my Prime shipping.

TIA!

  • Have you checked Imagination Toys on Bellaire?

  • I have bought them from Lakeshore in the past.  They have a store near the Galleria, in the same shopping center as The Container Store.
    Lilypie Angel and Memorial tickers
  • Learning Express usually has a variety of toys - you may want to call them before going, just to not waste a trip.

Awesome! This is about 5 minutes from my office.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, ladies!

  • Do you know what kind of special needs he has? the baby thing might not matter. I have a good friend whose daughter uses a lot of sensory toys, I'd be happy to ask her where she gets most stuff. I know I've seen pics of her daughter and those bumpy balls.

This is true.  I had several different ones that were baby infant toys, when I was teaching.  The balls I got from Lakeshore were very similar to the ones I had ordered from Abilitations.  It was was a good place to go locally for sensory stimulation items.

No, these were just on his wish list. All it says is "bumpy ball - washable." For some reason I am worried that I am getting him the wrong thing. It probably doesn't matter, but I didn't know if it would hurt his feelings if it showed a baby on the box. I found some that were listed for ages 3-6, so I thought the packaging would be more kid-friendly.

I guess I am just being sensitive on his behalf. I just know that these kids don't have a lot and I want him to be happy with his gift. And I am such a sap that I started getting teary when I was shopping at Sensory University because I was so thankful that Evan doesn't need anything like this.

I think it's great that you're trying to be so sensitive to his needs. It's very sweet.

Why ya gotta be so logical? :-)  Honestly, I don't think I ever would have thought of that. If I find out they are the same, I will do that.

Thanks. I just can't stand the thought of a disappointed kid at Christmas. Especially one that has been through so much.
