*Nesties that used Houston fertility institute*

DH and I met with Dr. Williams and really liked him and felt that they were a good fit. But we are double thinking it now after reading that their surgery facility is out of network.  Our in network coverage is ridiculously amazing while going out of network is super expensive.

Did you face this issue as well? If so, did you feel paying the out of network fees were worth it?

I am off to search for another RE...

  • They don't charge you out of network fees when you use their surgery facility, they charge the insurance the out of net work fees but they only charge you what you would have paid if they were in-network.  They make more money that way then working out a deal with insurance companies to be in-network.

    Yes, this.

The surgical center being out of network was a nasty surprise.  But they only charged me my deductible, and I never got a bill for the rest (and I had two hysteroscopies before our IVF, one of which ended up being operatibe.)

However, watch out for the anesthesia bills. That annoyed me.

ETA: I was completely OOP for our treatment, but we were charged a flat rate for the IVF.

  • Just asked one of their docs today and he confirmed it.  They write off the balance.  HTH.

  • I go there and see Dr Witz. I love them all so much. Hope you can get your insurance worked out. I have maxed lifetime benefits now so will be OOP from here on out it seems. I am sticking with them though. Good luck!
