Vent: Why don't people advertise rental houses sooner?
The planner in me is going insane. We're moving out of our house when our lease is up (Jan. 31) and I'm looking for a new place, but there are hardly any advertised for the end of Jan. Landlords should know by now whether their tenants are moving out. I'm going out of town on Friday for 2 weeks and it's driving me nuts that we'll have packing AND finding a place to live to worry about when we get back.
On a side note, if anyone hears of a house in the Highlands for rent at the end of Jan, let me know!

Are you united with the CCOKCs?
[Sorry - double post and no-delete ability.]
Oh and that is where our house is pretty much located, but our renters have a lease until September 2012. I can look on the HM website if you want, but maybe the person you nanny for already has for you.
ETA: You have PM

This, plus showing a rental can be a gigantic PITA so I could see wanting to wait till the holidays were over. I know when we are turning our rental over it consumes every night of DH's schedule to show it and take apps for a couple weeks... And with the rental market as tight as it is you can usually get renters very quickly so you don't have to advertise too early.

Me too so that's why I was thinking the same thing you were. As a landlord, the planner in me could never be ok with only 30 days notice. Too short a turn around for my ridiculously anal, planning blood.
