Does anyone own a Chrysler Town & Country

If you own one or know anyone who does ... what can you tell me about it? Likes and dislikes? How reliable has it shown? Did it need to go to the shop a lot?

Anything else that is worth knowing?

Re: Does anyone own a Chrysler Town & Country

  • Stay away from the 2008 Chryslers (including the Dodge Caravans, etc)  - there was some type of engine issue and that's part of the reason you can find so many from that year at CarMax etc.

Consumer Reports does not recommend them, used or new - their #1 used minivan is the Toyota Sienna.

  • After owning Chrysler & Dodge minivans for several years, my SIL opted for a Honda Odyssey.  It's performed much better and fewer repairs.
  • We don't have a Chrysler, but we do have an Odyssey that we adore, and my ILs have a Sienna that they love.  Both have been fantastic vehicles that have never given an ounce of trouble.
  • Oh, I'll add that my mom has a 2007 Caravan that has been a workhorse in every sense of the word - she's thinking she'll only get another year out of it though since her commute is so long now, but her old Caravan went to close to 200k with minimal issues.    It's just the 2008 ones in particular that had a major issue (and for the record, I think the Hondas had a similar problem as well, which is why my parents didn't get one.)

  • We had a Dodge Caravan (2001 or 2003, I think) and it had a variety of problems. We ended up selling it to Carmax after the transmission died the second time. I agree that Consumer Reports does NOT recommend them. I'd go with something else, if you can.

  • I have the 2008 T&C and love it. We haven't had any issues out of it, and anything on it that's been recalled has been fixed free of charge. We have the fully loaded version- all leather, automatic doors, remote start, DVD player, stow & go seats... we love everything about it.
  • Thanks a bunch guys. I did online research too and I will stay away from it. My current van is a Honda Odyssey and I had many issues with tire balance and now, after only 5 1/2 years a coil broke off that caused a 5K damage. I will NOT buy another Odyssey after this! I think we are pretty much sure we want a Sienna now
