Need my Nestie Prayer Warriors today...
Please send up some prayers, good thoughts, whatever you got today for my mom.
After getting a clean bill of health in April as an 8 year breast cancer survivor, we found out yesterday that she has bone cancer and is having a scan right now to find out if it has metastasized to any other organs. She also had a biopsy done last week of a growth on her scalp that showed up a month or so ago and it also came back positive for cancer this week. All this obviously came out of nowhere this week and just hoping that her scan today doesn't show anything else, but it's hard to stay positive about it.
Re: Need my Nestie Prayer Warriors today...
Keeping you, your mom and family in our thoughts and prayers.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
Hugs! I'm so sorry this is happening, Shannon. Lots of prayers, for sure.
Also, I'm FB messaging you right now.
Holy cow, we're going to have a little sister!!
Thanks everyone for your kind words/prayers! I believe they helped!!
Scan came back normal as far as cancer being anywhere else besides the bones. Dr said there could maybe be a very small spot on the lining of one of her lungs but was too hard to tell if it was anything from the scan. We are going back in today to meet with him and to start her on a form of 'chemo' which are injections she will get once a month (in the butt) of two different things. One to strengthen her bones, something they give to woman with osteroporosis (sp?) as well as to those who have cancer that has metastatisized in the bones, and the other to stop the growth of tumors.
The cancer on her scalp tested positive and contained the exact same cells that were found in her breast cancer 9 years ago. The plastic surgeon yesterday didn't do anything with the other 'cyst' near her ear yet..wanted to talk to her oncologist about that first to see if they needed to biopsy.
The oncologist did say he was very glad she came in when she did, but hoping today to get some answers as far as to really how advanced it is and things like that. And we'll go from there.
