  My gmail was hacked too! I suspected the phone too, since I just got it a few weeks ago and now my account was broken into for the first time ever.

  Wow, that's the same exact thing that happened here. I was able to set up one-time-use passwords for gtalk and my android so my gmail should be protected now (gotta love Google). But I want to make sure nothing else gets compromised, since I have a Mint app, etc.

  fwiw, an email account's hacking likely has little or nothing to do with a virus or the security of the device(s) you use to access the account. It is much more likely that it has to do with a phishing bot either guessing your password or hacking a database in which your password is stored.

  Still never a bad idea to have protection, of course, but I have no clue about android apps for antivirus.

  Interesting... My PW wasn't really "guessable" except by sheer random luck, so maybe it was a database thing.

  Another thought I just had... I did some training a while ago that said you were much better off accessing your accounts through apps rather than using a web browser to go to the website (on your phone, I mean). I guess it's more protected. Anyway, I only access gmail through the mail app, but recently I have been logging in to google docs through a browser. I wonder if that opened me up somehow.

  I don't have any anti-virus on my phone.

  FWIW, I've had my phone for over a year and no issues (knocking on wood).
