Re: New Year's Eve

  • We were invited to an Ugly Sweater house party which has now turned into a 'get dressed up and go to a bar' party - so we probably won't be doing that.

Last year we stayed in at my older brother's house and played Kinect games with our nephew since we had a wedding the next day.  The year before that we got together with a few of our friends (some of which were my BMs) and we went to the pub where DH and I first met to commemmorate the 'official start of the year of our wedding' - and that was a good time.

Everyone is at different stages in life now though - so many new babies this year, etc. or the few friends that are single and want to go out and mingle.  So we don't have official plans as of yet...we usually hang out at home, watch movies or the New Year's stuff on tv, eat lots of yummy appetizers and have champagne at midnight - nothing exciting, but we have fun.  We have talked about going skating or slidding, but that will depend on how I am post-surgery (I should be good by then, though).

Maybe some of your plans will inspire us to do something exciting!!

  • We're going to have my two brothers and their girlfriends over for a PJ party (cause who *doesn't* like to drink in their pjs, lol) I'm going to make a buncha Jello shots and snacky foods and we're going to play on the Wii. Everyone is going to be staying the night and I'm going to make pancakes in the morning.

  • That sounds like a lot of fun Lexi! We did a sleep over like that about 5 years ago and it was a good time for sure! Great idea!
  • We're really boring, so we probably won't be doing anything too exciting. Last year we went to B's aunt's house and hung out and ate a lot and watched the NYE stuff on TV. This year we might invite my sisters, brother, soon to be SIL and some friends over to play video games and stuff. If we don't do that, we'll probably be in bed before midnight. :)
  • We're hosting a mascarade bash at our house this year.  Everyone is going to wear normal clothes tho, not costumes.  It's basically a "wear something semi-dressy and a cool mask party" but that sounded stupid on the evite haha.

Very excited, as I can't get enough of throwing parties and dinners!  If I got to do it once a month I'd be thrilled :-)

  • I currently have no clue what we're doing on New Years.  Last year, we just hung out with my family and drank champagne/ate really good food.  Some of my teacher friends will be back in town with their parents this year, though, so it may be a little more exciting for us.
  • Wow, everyone sounds so exciting.  I think we are pretty boring.  One of DH's friends from South Carolina will be in town so I think we will get together with them and couple of other friends and just hang out or hit a bar.  Nothing big.  I always hate to go anywhere b/c one of us can't drink and then you have to deal with all the other drunks driving on the way home.  I prefer to stay put, but that is no fun.

  • We were undecided as of Friday (it is hard for this pregnant lady to stay up so late!), but some friends of ours made a reservation for dinner at a hip place downtown, and on a whim made it for 4 people instead of 2 in case anyone else didn't already have plans.  So we are joining them for a late dinner/NY celebration.

  • I generally don't enjoy NYE.  I don't drink, and get easily annoyed at drunk people, so I tend to stay home and hit the hay while others go out and par-tay.

However, this year, I will be on some kind of NYE cruise in San Fran with DH, my Mother and three friends.  Hope it's good.....!  I bought some think heeled shoes so I don't trip and fall over board.

That's right you'll be in town!  Come to my party instead!  I promise to serve you sparkling cider or water ;-)
