Happy Tuesday!

Blurg. I have a cold and I can't breathe through my nose so I did not sleep well at all. I have to work 12 hours today, it is going to suck!

Luckily I was able to get someone to cover part of my shift on Thursday which will be nice. And on my b-day someone was nice and is covering the closing shift so I only have to work from 8-2. Yay!

Have a good day!

Re: Happy Tuesday!

  • Good morning!

MiniSteph - I'm sorry you're not feeling well! I've had a very similar bug the past few days and the worst is when you can't breathe and therefore can't sleep. I hope you feel better quick! I finally turned a corner and got a full night of sleep last night and feel way better.

Just work, spin class and a coffee date for me today. Back to the grind. Have a good Tuesday all!

  • Aww, Mini - I know how you feel! That was me last night, too. Boo for stuffy noses!

M was asleep by 11pm, so that meant I got to go to bed with DH! Let's hope this becomes a thing... but since I've been fighting this darn cold, I couldn't sleep very well. I also think taking the behind-the-pharmacy-counter Sudafed helped to keep me up some, too. I hate that I have to choose between sleep and a stuffy nose.

Should be a fairly easygoing day. Just need to finish some laundry and take care of baby. Who is stirring as I type. :)

    Have a happy Tuesday, everyone!

Haircut this morning, volunteering this afternoon, gingerbread house building at a friends tonight.. should be fun Smile

  • Morning everyone!

A ho-hum yesterday, the better-job-hunt continues, and the current job is still lame as all getout. Today W's got some lawyer Christmas party that I'm not invited to, so it's a night in with not much going on.

    Have a good day everyone!

  • Morning! Last night DH and I laid low, it was lovely. We made french dips and kale chips and it was the perfect dinner to eat while watching the Seahawk's.

Tonight I plan on hitting the gym and another low key night. Hopefully the redneck neighbors wont stay up drinking on their front lawn until 2am.

  • I'm still cold from the Seahawks game last night. Working on preventing a cold here. One keeps trying to grab hold and I am doing my best not to let it.

Off to mom and baby group today. Hopefully Hailey will let me go to the grocery store too.

  • Good morning! I didn't sleep too well last night, either. Our puppy sleeps in our bed with us, and he's usually good at staying at the foot of the bed, but he must've been cold because he kept trying to snuggle underneath me. Cute, sure, but I'd have preferred the sleep. I'm excited because I have a playdate with a new friend today! Making friends in a new place is hard, but I'm grateful for each new friend I make.

  • Good morning!  Last night my commute to North Seattle from Bellevue was only 35 minutes!!!!!!  I made it home at 6:05 pm and was able to watch most of the Seahawk game.

Most of my Christmas presents have been bought, now all I have left is to ship them!  imo, shipping presents and getting presents in the mail takes half the fun out of Christmas since you aren't actually able to see/talk with the other person.  But that is how we have to do it with H's family. Sad

     Have a great day everyone!

  • Good morning! This was the 5th night in a row I woke up at about 3am. Way too early! I kept trying to fall back asleep but I gave up and have been doing some cleaning. I work this afternoon and then have my work Christmas party tonight. I am realizing how behind I am with Christmas stuff! I hope to get some work done in the next couple days.

ok, I tried making kale chips, but it didn't work... what did I do wrong?  is there a specific kind of kale I should use?  it seemed to either be undercooked or burnt :-/

  • imageLegalBritt:

The Crab Pot was not good. But the atmosphere and company was fun. DH and I both drank a gallon of water afterwards b/c it was so salty!

that's too bad, what didn't you like about it?  I've never been before, but it sounded like fun.

I basically use this recipe and have made it at least a dozen times in the past 6 months..I've used red kale and green kale, so I don't think its specific to a type.

I now a friend was using a recipe that had the over at 300 or so and they burnt almost instantly.

  • amanda, i've also used various types of kale and haven't had an issue. i don't even use a recipe anymore, because i've made it so many times. i just wash, and pluck them off the stems, spray with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and put it in the oven at about 375 until it "looks right"...usually about 10 mins.

I didn't think the food was very good. It all tasted way overcooked and watered down. The clams and mussles were okay, but that's because I drenched them in butter. They cook everything with some sausage, and I think maybe the smell of the sausage was upsetting my stomach. It's better than Red Lobster but not by much. It was really expensive too! $35/person. But like I said, I think you go there for the experience of eating a pile of seafood. My friend loves it. But she also secretly loves red lobster. Haha.

I went to the Crab Pot only once because I walked away thinking, "For what I just paid, I should have had some good seafood, not something sub-par."  But, as we established on the previous thread about Red Lobster, I'm kind of a seafood snob (because if I get bad seafood I get *really* sick), so I tend to stick to places that I consider more likely to have purchased high-quality seafood: Chandler's, Elliott's, Daniel's Broiler, etc.  I almost never order a seafood entree if it isn't at something I would classify as as "nice" restaurant.

  • Good afternoon!

I am slowly recovering from our trip to NYC this weekend - I think it got me sick (though the only thing I have is a sore throat, but it feels kind of swollen so I'm wondering if maybe it is just a reaction to the crazy temperature swing).  We had a fun time going to the UW game even though they lost, and we had a good time at SNL on Saturday night (I loved the Alec Baldwin appearance).  I managed to stay out until 3 AM Saturday night (which is only really midnight) and it made me feel like a champ.  I kind of think NYC at the holidays is a little over-rated - everything is so crowded that you can't really enjoy it.  Or at least I couldn't.  But I'm glad I finally went because I had never been there at Christmas before.

Came home to a mountain of laundry so I'm trying to plow through that while addressing Christmas cards.  I have a crazy busy week and then DH and I are doing our first Christmas together (the "just us" part) by going up to Napa for the weekend.  Turns out he doesn't have to go into work on Friday as they're moving offices, so we can jet up there before traffic and relax which will be nice.  I am hoping it is decorated all pretty since I feel like I don't see any Christmas decorations in the city.

  • I thought the crab pot was fun and just "ok". Not bad, but expensive for the quality. I am not a big seafood fan though.
