Re: Christmas Tree Poll!

    1. What's on your Christmas tree? so far just the lights and garland.  We'll put the ornaments up this weekend.
    2. Are the ornaments generic, or do they carry meaning? Both
    3. Live or fake? Live.  I would only have a fake tree under 2 conditions - only way I could have a tree and/or if Cody or kid#2 (when they are around) are allergic to live trees.
    4. When did you put it up? The 3rd which is earlier than normal.
    5. When will you take it down? Just after New Year's
    6. Favorite ornament?  Not really sure.  I have a few that I love.

  • I didn't put any Christmas decorations up this year.  You can call me Scrooge.

In my defense, we've got the two cats, who will climb the tree, and the dog, who will probably knock the darn thing over.  Since we're not hosting Christmas, I spared myself the stress.  I'll have to decorate every other year from here on out because of kids, so I'm savoring this year.

    1. What's on your Christmas tree? Nothing... we aren't putting up a tree this year (which really depresses me. All our Christmas stuff is literally buried in our storage unit in the back and there was no way I could get back to it. I really hoped I'd be in a house by now not this crappy small apartment so I could put up a tree.
    2. Are the ornaments generic, or do they carry meaning? All the ornaments we have meaning.
    3. Live or fake? I used to do live, Jim did fake. So the last couple of years we've had a fake. When Duncan gets older I want to go back to live.
    4. When did you put it up? See #1
    5. When will you take it down? At least I don't have to do this...
    6. Favorite ornament? A glass yellow smiley face ornament that was my favorite as a kid. It's the one I always had to put up and I love it. My mom gave it to me for my trees when I first moved out and had my first tree on my own.

  • 1. White lights, a set of Mickey lights (yep, we are those people), and ribbon wrapped around the tree, many ornaments.

    2. Some generic, some meaningful

    3. Definitely live, I love the smell

    4. Day after Thanksgiving

    5. It usually comes down New Year's Day :(

    6. There are two old ornaments from Pat's grandpa's that are special, I also really like this one particular ornament from our first Christmas with our wedding pic on it, I have some fav Disney ones too that resemble each park. Wow, I sound like such a Disney loser!

    1. What's on your Christmas tree? Colored lights and lots of ornaments, including an ornament from Rebecca and one from Summer. Big Smile
    2. Are the ornaments generic, or do they carry meaning? A mixture of both. We have a lot of ornaments from '08 that we received for our first Christmas being married. The majority of our ornaments are Ravens & Redskins ornaments.
    3. Live or fake? Fake
    4. When did you put it up? About 2 weeks ago
    5. When will you take it down? Probably the weekend after Christmas
    6. Favorite ornament? An ornament that I got off Etsy for Bridget. It's a clear ball with pieces of her birth announcement inside. It has a cute bow and little baby feet attached to the ribbon.

  • 1. Ornaments, yay for pre-lit trees!

    2. I got rid of most of the generic ball ornaments.  Now we have just the sentimental ones or ones I've picked up through the years.

    3. Fake, although DH has hinted to getting a real one.  Then I asked him 1000 questions about real trees, hopefully that bought me another year.  I mean the man doesn't even fluff the damn tree as he puts it up, but he wants to buy a real one and have to string lights?

    4. DH had it up the Friday after Thanksgiving.

    5. As soon as we get home from Maryland, probably the 30th/31st.  We refuse to go back to work with the tree up, we'll leave the outside decor up probably another weekend after that.

    6. Probably all the ornaments from our honeymoon stops and a puppy photo one of Sadie.

    1. What's on your Christmas tree? lights, ornaments, and a star on top
    2. Are the ornaments generic, or do they carry meaning? Most of them carry meaning because they were gifts (a lot from you girls!) or are ones that we had when we were little.
    3. Live or fake? Live
    4. When did you put it up? Dec 3
    5. When will you take it down? After Christmas when it dies
    6. Favorite ornament? One that my friend Ashlie handpainted for Loki. It's a sleeping dog in a Santa hat with a bone that has a bow around it.

my read shelf: Brianna's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

    1. What's on your Christmas tree? ornaments from felicity's photo shoot, and the ornaments we got this year as presents.
    2. Are the ornaments generic, or do they carry meaning? both. new mommy and new daddy ornaments (they match but we didn't buy them together lol) 2 babys first christmas, and then the ornament she made.
    3. Live or fake? 4.5 fake tree. No room for a real tree :( but were using this fake on as our "fancy, look at me from the window when you drive by" tree, then we'll have a real big tree in the family room once we're in our home and have the room.
    4. When did you put it up? about a week ago
    5. When will you take it down? 12 days after Christmas
    6. Favorite ornament? the one Felicity made :D

    1. What's on your Christmas tree? ornaments, some red and white beads and some of those fun fake berry twigs (pre-lit tree).
    2. Are the ornaments generic, or do they carry meaning? None of them are generic.  Each year since we were born, our moms each got us an ornament that carried meaning for us that year.  Combined, we have 56 ornaments.  No two are alike.  It's like an evolving museum.
    3. Live or fake? Fake - I'd love a live one some day, but we have no idea how to care for them.  How long do they stay alive?
    4. When did you put it up? The weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving....we didn't host Thanksgiving and I had time that weekend!
    5. When will you take it down? The week after Christmas.  I am off that week so I'll want to take it all down and clean so I don't have to worry about it.
    6. Favorite ornament? I'd have to say that the ornament from my first Christmas is my favorite.  It's so special and I can "feel" the love from that ornament.

  • Stacey, real trees are easy. Just put in the tree stand and keep it watered. I pick up the few needles that fall every few days.

    1. What's on your Christmas tree?  Lots and lots of ornaments, and some lights in there too.  No garland
    2. Are the ornaments generic, or do they carry meaning? Right now since we are at my parents we have some of our ornaments on there along with my parents.  We have some that are just beautiful ornaments, some from when I was born, and then ornaments that DH and I got for our first christmas or on our Honeymoon
    3. Live or fake? Live.  Ditto Shelley with the real only reason we'll go fake is if someone has bad allergies that forces us to.
    4. When did you put it up? We got it on the 5th, and had it not been for my dad's schedule it would have been decorated that day, but he couldn't get it up and settled until late that night so we didn't decorate until this past Sunday.
    5. When will you take it down? Probably the weekend after New Years, maybe sooner if we have time.
    6. Favorite ornament? Hard to choose.  There are some from my childhood that I love, but I've enjoyed getting new ones that have been DH and mine.
    1. What's on your Christmas tree? We have colored lights and ornaments - lots with dates and some from my childhood. I used to put ribbon and beaded garland but nixed both of those last year.
    2. Are the ornaments generic, or do they carry meaning? All of them have meaning.
    3. Live or fake? Fake
    4. When did you put it up? On 12/11
    5. When will you take it down? December 26th or 27th probably!
    6. Favorite ornament? Oh gosh, I have a bunch! There's this lemon one that was from when my mom was a kid and I just love it.

I made one of these with our wedding invitations - I love it!

Also - we got these pine scented thingies from Lowes that you hide in your tree (I can't even find them) that make it smell like you have a real tree. very neat.
