I was wondering what you think of this Hanukkah Dinner Menu? What do you think I could add? Subtract? Etc! We have a pregnant woman (no soft cheeses) and a gluten free/celiacs woman (no wheat or raw veggies/fruit)

Thank you!!! It was kinda stressful, I'll be honest. What one can't eat, the other can... so I just figured if there is one little thing they can't have, they will skip it. I put some crudite with the hummus, but I'll make sure it's a good assortment.
I was thinking of adding fruit dessert but I feel bad because fruit is so delicious and one of my guests just can't have it.... desserts hard, because I don't really feel like buying rice/almond flour and making something gluten free. Maybe I'll just buy something at Whole Foods.

This makes me very happy! I don't think she'll eat it anyway because I know she is avoiding soft cheeses (maybe out of pure paranoia), but I'll eat them if/when I get pregnant!

They're grown women. They can make the decision to skip certain foods that they can't eat. I think you're fine having fruit (or cheese for that matter) sitting out.
It's not like you're refusing to acknowledge their food diets completely, you know? There's a difference between serving all foods with gluten and cheese, and simply having a few other options.
On a side note- I had no idea people with Celiac's couldn't eat fresh fruit/veggies. I'm currently googling (a lot) because I'm curious now.

I don't think there is a correlation there at all. My friend has Celiacs and she eats lots of fresh fruits and veggies.
Unless someone is highly allergic to being in the same space as a food, then I think serving it is ok, as long as there are other options. You wouldn't forgo serving a dessert just because one person in the group can't have sugar, right?

I don't think the raw fruits and vegetables has to do with the Celiacs. I think she has Ulcerative Colitis as well.
Then she can choose to eat as her diet directs her. No need to deprive your other guests of yummy healthy food just because one can not partake.
I just googled it, and it sounds like for a lot of people with Celiac's, they avoid fruits/veggies at first. I'm guessing because they're harder to digest, and if your system is already 'sore' and trying to heal from the allergy anyway, it's advised to avoid fresh fruit/veggies.
SB- the only other thing I'd recommend (if you haven't thought of it already) is to make sure your spices and seasonings are GF.

That may be easier. I think that I'll send her my list of foods, and recipes... and ask her if I need to be wary of anything. I know that she eats at restaurants, so my guess is that she can handle the generic kind of spices, but better safe that sorry.

If she eats out at restaurants safely, I'm sure you're fine. I think you're already going above and beyond what someone would (or should) expect as a hostess anyway.
I've had a really bad issue with migraines off and on for awhile. I always contributed them to stress and stuff though. I did WW about a year go (or more), and gave up quickly. But I had been tracking my food, and I noticed a correlation between carb-heavy foods and my migraines. KW and Anna had both been talking about GF stuff more, so it kind of spiked my curiousity.
I started up WW again a few months ago, and really noticed the gluten/migraine thing again. H and I decided to try cutting out gluten for a few weeks and I felt completely different. (It sounds cheesy, but it's totally true.) Now, if I eat something I shouldn't, I get super bloated and itchy. The headaches are almost instant, and I just feel... icky. Looking back, I think I always felt that way, but I just attributed it to an all-around crappy diet.
My skin has cleared up A TON too, and I have more energy.

The only thing I'd add is some sort of homemade applesauce. Maybe with pomegranate arils and honey. More important at Rash Hashanah, but my preferred topping for latkes.

Steph, I'm really happy it's working out for you. I was curious because I've been so bloated for no apparent reason for the past few months. It's like obscene amounts of bloat. I wondered if maybe it was a gluten sensitivity... I was not eating as many breads/desserts etc, before my wedding and now I have been and I've been feeling bloated and yucky. I know I've gained a little weight, but this isn't weight gain... it's like a hard full stomach.
ETA: I'm heading to the gym now, then a school function. I'll definitely check this thread later though. Thanks for all of the information.Oh yeah applesauce! And sour cream is awesome too.

I felt insanely bloated too, but I just attributed it to the IUD. (I'm guessing it was a combination.)
