In my former life (aka life before I quit my job in March '11), I was actually a corporate recruiter who hired people for a casual gaming company in the Bay Area. One that is quite well known. I'm not sure which company you're applying to up in Seattle (I could guess as there are really only a few of them), but if there was a way we could take the conversation offline (i.e. not in a public forum), I'd be happy to talk to you about what I looked for in a candidate when I interviewed, what types of questions I'd ask, the type of things you need to think about / prep for, the websites / blogs you should follow, etc.
LMK if you'd be interested... not sure how we'd facilitate this (maybe through GMail?) since TN's UI sucks and I don't even know how to send a message on this thing (or if I've ever gotten a message, I've probably never ready it because I don't know I've received one).

Maybe you can join the FB group and we can set up time to talk from there? It's just "Seattle Nesties", I think jennlin or someone else has to approve it.
Also, thanks so much for offering to help! I've been in programming for a while but never games, it seems like a very different world o_O.

Happy to help in any way I can - the gaming industry, in particular casual gaming, is a different beast from traditional programming. Not sure what languages they use (I know my old company was a lot of Flash for the front-end, PHP for the back-end), but you likely won't find the programming there as "intense" as you might at other technology companies. It's not for anyone but I'll be happy to tell you about my experience and what we looked for and what the environment is like.

this is true. we didn't use our group enough so we can't have it anymore.. it's still there but i can't do anything with it.
Grrr ... well, I sent you a PM. Just ctrl+F (or apple+F if you're on a mac) for "check private messages" on this page and click that link.
... or maybe this link will work?
