I am petite and usually wear skirts to the top of my knee, just skimming the top. When I sit down about an inch or two of leg becomes visible. Is this too short for business events/interviews? Should skirts completely cover the whole knee when standing?

Certain business events, like semi-formal no.
Interviews, yes.
That being said, most of my skirts hit at the knee or just above and I've never felt uncomfortable or unprofessional. It also depends on the cut of the skirt - my A-line skirts don't really hitch up my leg, whereas a pencil style skirt will on me.
