Shampoo for colored hair.

What do you use?

I usually buy something from Target/WalMart/etc that is sulfate-free, but I'm not always convinced it works well. A couple months ago, I scored big bottles of Redkin Color shampoo and conditioner for stupid cheap on EBay, but haven't found anything close to that price since then. And, frankly, I'm too cheap to pay $50 (or whatever regular price is) at a salon or something.

Basically, I'm looking for something that won't strip my color off my gray (grey?) hairs.

So, what's your favorite?

  • I always use Treseme for colored hair. It's not that expensive and it make my color last. I generally don't color my hair very often (every 4 to 6 months).

Ha. I was going to post exactly this.

I basically look for an excuse to buy expensive hair care products, b/c I like to splurge on stuff like that once in a while to feel fancy, but I've never found anything that works better than TRESemme. Love it.

  • I use Tressemme as well. I like the Thermal Recovery line. I've tried other expensive shampoos/conditioners and the slight difference in quality wasn't worth the large difference in price.

  • Right now, I'm using Healthy Sexy Hair Soymilk and I like it.  I usually switch every time I buy shampoo.  Some others I like are Paul Mitchell, Joico, Bed Head.

I wait for a sale at Ulta and buy it then for $10-15 each.  They sometimes have combo packs at a discounted price as well.

  • Loreal has a line called Everpure (I think?) at Walmart.  It's awesome because it's sulfate free and only costs $5-6 bucks.  I love it because it smells like rosemary mint.  Right now I'm using the Keratin color shampoo/conditioner and I love it because it actually lathers...but it's stupid expensive.  I think Target carries it for $20/bottle.

  • I used Herbal Essences Color Me Happy for a long time, but recently (within the last week) I switched to Treseme.  Love it, and it wasn't expensive at all--I think it was $3.50/bottle at Dollar General Lol.

  • I liked Fredrick Fekkai for color treated hair. I usually get it at Off Saks.  The bottles are super small but I am not exactly known for washing my hair regularly anyway.  I have had the same small bottles since the store opened this summer.  At the same time, you don't need a lot of it to get your hair super clean.
  • The Biolage line for color treated hair. I also like Joico K-Pak. If you have blonde and it's getting brassy, Joico has a violet shampoo that's fabuloso too. I like Tigi products too. I'm a hair product whoore. Love it. Oh. And I love, love, love the Dumb Blonde hair masque.

What's your secret to keep it from looking oily? I hate washing as often as I do, but it's juuuust dark enough to show every.drop.of.oil that could possibly be anywhere near my head... Hate it!
