s/o wishlist - cupcake theme gift?
I'm getting my BFF and her husband a cupcake themed gift basket for Chistmas - they're obsessed with cupcakes.
So far i've gotten them a set of awesome cupcake wrappers, a cupcake cookbook and a piping bag & tip set... I need one more thing. I don't think they'll use a tiered stand, so I ditched that idea. What else would you add?
If all else fails i'll add in a bottle of champagne because nothing is better than cupcakes and champagne, right?

My MIL always gives me cupcake themed gifts. I have:
-A cupcake scarf
-A bejeweled cupcake necklace
-Cupcake corer (this might be a good one since stuffed cupcakes are really popular now)
-Cupcake sprinkles
-Cupcake door hanger
-Cupcake ornaments (plural)
-Ceramic cupcake candles (one for every season- the holiday one is red, white and green with peppermint swirled "wrapper)
-Cupcake calendars (every year- they have the tear off dailies and the monthly glossy ones)
-Americolor Icing Dyes (I actually love these- the gel color is really potent and doesn't alter the flavor)

Alternatively, if they are cupcake sharers, I have a plastic carrier that I LOVE.

Yup, SLT has cupcake ornaments right now. (And macaron ones too, if anyone cares.)
What about an offset spatula for frosting cupcakes? They might already have something they like to use though. This is my favorite one.
Papersource also has lots of kitschy cupcake gifts. I've seen this oven mitt in several stores.
If you need to tie it up, Michaels and JoAnn both have ribbon with cupcakes on them! They're like $1 a spool (little spools).
I tend to do cupcake or ice cream themed gifts for my friends for every occasion.

I have the apron that matches that oven mitt! I got it for my birthday, the buyer got it at Anthropologie.

Deifinitely sprinkles/decorations for the top of the cupcakes!
Stop by Little Bitts in the Wheaton Triangle... they have a ton of different types of sprinkles for a couple bucks each. Their packaging and presentation leave a lot to be desired - but you could probably transfer them in some other small (cute)containers.
ETA: they also carry Americolor (and Cake Craft) dyes, various flavorings, lots of different wrappers, offset spatulas, etc., etc. The ladies in there are kind of little old bitties, and the store could really use a good deep cleaning and organizing. But, they have a pretty wide selection of stuff.
If you haven't picked this kit up yet, you should! It includes the Bismarck tip, which makes filling cupcakes so easy. I've never used the corer, but with this tip, you poke it into your cupcake and slowly squeeze in the filling. It also includes the 1MM tip, commonly used for the frosting swirl.
I bought it for my brother at Michael's. I've also seen it at AC Moore and JoAnns. I used a 50% off coupon to purchase his and it was around $4ish. I've found additional uses for the Bismarck tip -- like filling jalapenos with cream cheese, which is why my brother added the set to his wish list. The Tip is the same price as the kit, when purchased with a 50% off coupon. :-)

If you want to get a bottle of alcohol, there's a vineyard called Cupcake and they have wines that cost around $10. The label says Cupcake on it. I've had one of the whites and it was pretty good. I got it at World Market, but I think a lot of places carry it.
