OMG, I got an offer! And a poll inside!
So I got an offer!!! I am a social worker going from a non-profit to a behavioral health managed care company (for profit)
They offered me a 21k pay increase!! The health care is going to be $40 more a pay period than what I have now. I would be going from 28 days of PTO a year to 20 days a year. However the retirement is twice as good as what I get now. Oh, and a 21k pay increase! So do I negotiate or take it?
FWIW, they know my current salary.

I wouldn't be super forceful in the negotiations, but I would ask if the offer was negotiable. Since it's a non-profit, you might have better luck negotiating a more generous time-off package.
Right?! I almost died when she gave me the figure. I repeated the offer 2 times because I thought for sure there is NO WAY it could be that much. I never thought I would make this much in social work. Granted, I am selling my soul going to an BHMO haha! I may ask if the PTO is negotiable because I feel like an ass trying to negotiate pay given how much more it is than what I am making now. Thanks!!

I'm at a soul-sucking HMO currently and even though I make "okay" money, it's still not good by any means! Good job you for a huge raise!

The only thing I would negotiate is the PTO. I would ask for at least the 28 days and hope they settle on 25.
I would not ask for more $$$, but ask for more PTO. Usually they are MUCH more willing to give more of that.
