Houston Holiday fun?

Hi Ladies!

Presley and I will be in town for over 2 weeks and I'm looking for fun Christmas-related activities for us to do. Is there a place online I can find a list? Or is there anything you guys would recommend? We'll be there the 17th to the 2nd.

TIA!

Re: Houston Holiday fun?

  • Not exactly in Houston, but there is the Alvin train (close to Ron Carters car dealership) and Moody Garden's Festival of Lights with a 4D shortened showing of Polar Express.

  • Again not Houston, but Sea World San Antonio does special stuff for the holidays.

Ice skating at the Galleria or Discovery Green.

  • Not Houston but College Station has Santa's Wonderland which we are going to next weekend.

  • Thanks! I'm going to look into some of these. Just crazy how little there seems to do in such a big city....

  • Oh and the Children's Museum would be all Christmas-y this time of year, so that could be fun for her to see.

  • How are the lights in Alvin? I read about this in our local paper and thought about going. There are no small kids in the family, so it would just be adults (even though we do enjoy looking at Christmas lights). Is it worth going to without kids?

To OP- I recommend Festival of Lights in Moody Gardens and a trip to Santa's Wonderland in College Station- just an FYI, you have to do the hayride on the weekends now, because of traffic they don't allow cars to drive through anymore.

This was our first year going, but it was okay.  I think I prefer Festival of Lights. For something to festive to do (without kids), it's nice enough.

  • The lights in Prestonwood up 249 are usually amazing: http://prestonwoodforestonline.com/

  • The Nutcracker is always great. Ice skating at the Galleria or Discovery Green.

They are doing a snow event in The Woodlands.

  • Many of the holiday tree lighting festivities are over - but as mentioned by others - Nutcracker at Houston Ballet and A Christmas Carol at the Alley Theatre, Moody Gardens Festival of Lights & Galveston, Santa's Wonderland in College Station, Trans Siberian Orchestra at Toyota Center, Discovery Green
