Denver Nestie looking for a DC brunch recommendation

Hi DC Nesties,

I'm popping over from Denver to see if I could get a recommendation for weekend brunch location in DC.  Ideally, I'm looking for an upscale prix-fixe brunch, with bottomless mimosas/champagne/bloody mary's, that won't cost as much as my mortgage ;)  Thanks!

Re: Denver Nestie looking for a DC brunch recommendation

  • is it for a big group or just a few people? where are you staying? do you have a $$ in mind?

Top of my list would be:

    Georgia Brown's

    Founding Farmers

    Tabard Inn

    America Eats

Sequoia (the food is not to die for but the view is pretty nice)

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • not sure if it's still going on, but acadiana had a lovely jazz brunch w/ live music.  mimosas weren't bottomless, but htey were only $1.  not sure if it fits the price you have in mind, though.

    It's seriously delicious though

  • My coworker raved about this place:  http://bistrocacao.com/menu/brunch-menu/

(I can't personally vouch for it...)

I also like Matchbox (Capitol Hill location) for brunch.

  • Beacon Bar and Grill has bottomless champagne/bloody mary's/mimosas and brunch for around $30 or so I believe. I haven't been there yet, but it is on my list (I have ate there for dinner though)

The "disco brunch" Level One in Dupont Circle is fun and has bottomless mimosas and bloody marys. While it is trendy, it's not "upscale".

While they do not have unlimited drinks, I have enjoyed brunches at both Cedar (Penn Quarter) and Founding Farmers (Foggy Bottom).

  • Georgia Brown's has a more-food-than-you-can-eat brunch that is pretty good. And Perry's (drag queen) brunch is pretty good, and entertaining!

    Pam and John
    "What is a week-end?"
  • I'll just throw this out there as something a bit different.  Ping Pong Dim Sum does brunch with unlimited dim sum and mimosas (lychee, I think).  $45 or so.

    It's a fun experience!

  • Another vote here for Beacon Bar and Grill.....

we also like to take out of town guests to the Kennedy Center brunch b/c it has great views!

  • I also recommend Beacon Bar & Grill. Food is great, nice atmosphere, and the service is wonderful- my glass has never been empty there.
  • Great recommendations already! We are always trying to find new brunch places to eat. I love Matchbox (banana bread fresh toast, brilliance!) and Founding Fathers for Brunch!

If you are looking for a Place on Saturday, I highly recommend The Source by Wolfgang next to the Newsuem; for $40, you can get 8 dim sum like picks that are amazing and is more than enough for two people. I'm almost certain they don't have any drink specials.
