Christmas Poll

Since we are almost a week away from Christmas I thought it was appropriate to make a poll.

What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least?

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite?

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly?

Do you decorate at all?

Re: Christmas Poll

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least? Most: Spending time with family, and the time off work. Being able to relax and be happy for two weeks is very exciting!Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? Yes! My least-favorite is the stupid hippopotamus song. I think some of you know this about me, but after it assaulted my ears for six straight weeks in 2004, I can't handle it anymore. I don't know which one is my favorite though. I have quite a few, but I generally love anything sung by Bing Crosby (Bing singing White Christmas makes me swoon) or Frank Sinatra. Are you spending Christmas at home or with family? With family. We were going to spend it at home, but that changed. At first I was disappointed because I liked the idea of being at home, but now I'm excited about seeing family.Do you decorate at all? We skipped a tree this year. But we have a few wreaths up and a small tree... that's about it. :)

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least? Most looking forward to: it's a surprise for those back home, but H is coming home for Christmas and New Year's - I pick him up a week from Friday. I'm still holding my breath and hoping his CO doesn't change his mind about letting him come home, but I'm so stoked.

Least: dealing with extended family. The snarkiness will come out this year if anyone tries to start anything.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? I haven't really been listening to Christmas music this year...but I love me some *N Sync and Carpenters this time of year [their Christmas albums]. Can't think of a Christmas song I don't really like...

Are you spending Christmas at home or with family? I'll be at my parents' house for most of the break. H and I will spend some time up here with JJ, but for the most part, we'll be at home.

Do you decorate at all? I do. I put up a tree, lights/garland and some other Christmas things around the apartment. I hope to add more to the Christmas decorations next year [and get a legit tree instead of the 3-foot one I currently have that I got in college]. EDIT: ostatekris' post reminded me that I have a little OSU Christmas tree that goes out every year, too. :)

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Being off work, being out of school, not having to tutor. Least? Christmas shopping. I still haven't started. I hate trying to figure out what people want. I love giving gifts if I know they'll love them, but I get way too stressed about what to get people.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? Sometimes. I love O Holy Night and Reliant K's version of 12 days of Christmas. I'm not a fan of the Hippo song, Santa Baby, or All I want for Christmas is You.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly? We have 5 family get togethers. 3 on Christmas Eve, 1 on Christmas, and 1 the day after Christmas. It's going to be stressful.

Do you decorate at all? We finally put up our tree over the weekend! And we have a santa candy dish, a red berry wreath on the door, and a bowling pin made into a penguin that we made last year for my work christmas party. We don't put lights up outside, although I would love to next year.

Since we are almost a week away from Christmas I thought it was appropriate to make a poll.

What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least?  I am really looking forward to a vacation from work. Not looking forward to hanging out with DH's family (other than his grandparents, I love them).

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite?  I am not a fan of xmas songs but I DO like Mariah Carey's "All I want for Xmas is you"

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly?  We will be with DH's family on part of xmas day. My reward for being a good girl is that he is taking me to dinner at the Skirvin xmas night.

Do you decorate at all?  We put up a tree with SD's help but other than that, no.

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least?

Most- Going to look at Christmas lights and eat Chinese food on Christmas Eve with H. It's our little tradition.

Least- Working an 18 hour shift all by myself and then being on call the rest of the 24 hours the day after Christmas. It's going to be horrible.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite?

Baby It's Cold Outside is my favorite. My least favorite is that Hawaiian Christmas song.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with family?

With my family at my moms house.

    Do you decorate at all?

Of course! I love Christmas decorations!

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least?

Most- going to Seattle to see SIL, her husband, their kiddos, MIL and just getting away with D.

Least- not having as much time off like D does during the holiday season. His command all but shuts down because they send BUDS students home for like 3 weeks and I just want to stay at home with him.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite?

Umm...I don't think there are any I don't like. SInce we are in SoCal, anything Christmas-y makes me all fuzzy inside since it feels nothing like winter out here (they said on the news last night to make sure your bundle up with a heavy winter coat the next day because the high would be 58...Hmm) But my absolute MOST favorite is the BC clark jingle...not really a true Christmas song, but it totally makes it "Christmas" time when we hear it on you tube!

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly?

    Seattle with the fam!

    Do you decorate at all?

Yup...haven't done as much as we normally do because I work a lot and I need D's help and he is always out of town. I only have 1 weekend a month off so my last weekend was spent getting the tree and decorating it. We are going to try and decorate the rest of the outside tonight since we are both home.

Baby It's Cold Outside is my favorite. My least favorite is that Hawaiian Christmas song.

"Mele Kalikimaka" is a family staple in our house [because my mom's Hawaiian]. We used to sing that song every Christmas during our Christmas assembly when I lived in Hawaii...it got old after awhile.

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? I'm going to enjoy watching M open her gifts and some time off to relax.  Least? I don't think there is any thing I don't like about Christmas

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? I love Christmas songs. I really like Carol of the Bells because it was one of my favorite songs that we sang in choir. We sang this song with the local professional orchestra in HS and it was the best experience ever.

My least favorite is either Baby it's Cold outside (the words to this song is just too creepy) or All I want from Christmas is you by Mariah Carey. After hearing this song so much while working retail I have come to loathe it.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly? We are spending Christmas morning at home and then going to the ILs for more Christmas

Do you decorate at all? We usually just have our tree decorated, but I also have a wreath on the door, mantle decorated, and some decorations outside. Next year we are going to put lights outside.

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least? I'm looking forward to having some time off work, seeing everyone open gifts and spending time with my parents.  Least: we don't get SS until Christmas afternoon.  Although I kind of like it because he gets a whole week with us after he gets here to play with his gifts and spend time with us, it's kind of weird Christmas morning when there's no excitement.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? I love the Hawiian Christmas song!  I also love Blue Christmas.  I get a little burnt out on the station here that plays Christmas music all day because it seems like there are a lot of the same songs just sung by different artists.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with family? My parents are coming here Christmas Eve and staying with us.  We SS Christmas afternoon.  My parents are leaving to go home Monday after, and we're going to Florida with H's mom and stepdad on Tuesday after.

Do you decorate at all? Oh yes.  I have my big tree and my little OSU tree (black tree with orange/OSU ornaments), several other decor items around the house and lights outside.

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least? I'm looking forward to it being C's first Christmas.  Not looking forward to driving 16+ hours in a 50 hour period.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? Yep!  My favorite is that Sarah Mclachlan song...I think it's called Song for a Winter's Night.  Least favorite is Santa Baby

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly? With family in New Mexico

Do you decorate at all? Yep.  The weeked after Thanksgiving we ot everything decorated.

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least? I'm looking forward to seeing my family and friends. I'm dreading forced merriment (like feeling obligated to participate in extended family gift exchanges.)

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? Ugh. No. I'm a total Grinch.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly? A little of both, but we're celebrating "Christmas" on a weird day

Do you decorate at all? I finally did this year. I decorated our buffet, dining room table, and mantle. I decided that like old fashioned type decorations with muted colors rather than more cartoony type stuff.

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least?

Spending time with hubby, enjoying each other's company.  I also have NO school so I am one happy camper.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite?

Absolutely, I usually start a week before Thanksgiving. My favorite is the Jackson 5's Give Love on Christmas Day. LOVE that song.  I can't think of any that I loathe, usually something that is completely different from traditional.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly?

We are venturing to Vegas, just the two of us!

    Do you decorate at all?

Yes, we have lights outside and decor over the fireplace. No tree though.

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least?I can't can't can't wait for my sister and her bf to get here!! That's easily what I'm looking the most forward to. The least? Hmm. I guess maybe MIL's inevitable disappointment when she realizes that nothing matches up to her grandiose/manic visions. We'll leave her to that, though.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? Yes, I really like this cassette that my sis and I used to listen to - it's a mix of old carols from the 30s and 40s. It's taped off a record, so there's lots of crackling.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly? Both. At home with family.

Do you decorate at all? Yes. Tree is up and wreath! That's all this year, though. It's too hard to get to the other stuff.

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Having some time off work. It's been a rough tough semester. I'm pretty much sick of everyone's faces at this point and have met the quota of giving a crap. Need a break!Least? Having to wrap xmas gifts - I HATE wrapping, but DH loves to open presents. I try to wrap his at least. Everyone else gets a gift bag. Also, not looking forward to taking down Christmas decorations. Do you listen to Christmas songs? Yes - I start Nov. 1st. I love Christmas music! If so do you have a favorite? Feliz NavidadLeast favorite? The one with Paul McCartney - Simply having a wonderful Christmas time. Ugh! Are you spending Christmas at home or with family? Both. Families live in town, so we'll make the rounds. Do you decorate at all? Yep. We put everything out the weekend after Thanksgiving.

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least? Most: watching B open presents and seeing my family. Least: sleeping at my parents overnight in the same bed as H (we sleep separately due to snoring!)

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? Not usually, but I've been enjoying LifeChurch's Carols CD.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly? With family. Both sets of grandparents and my parents, aunt, uncle and cousins!

Do you decorate at all? Gracious, yes. My house is for real decked out.  I loooooove it!!

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least?   Several things--time off work, more time with G and DH,  getting to see/spend time with my sister, and it being G's first Christmas.  He's too little to open presents but seeing him with something new is so fun--he loves the lights too!   Least....nothing really, but it does annoy me how crowded it is at DH's grandma's house.  That side of the family has grown and is too big to fit in her house and I hate feeling so cramped and there's no room for anything of G's---a PNP, exersaucer, playmat, etc. so he ends up being held the whole time and he gets tired of that.  Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite?  I don't listen to them really.  We just don't have any Christmas music at home, but if a song I like comes on the radio I'll listen.  Don't really have a favorite, though. Are you spending Christmas at home or with family?  We're planning on spending Christmas Eve at home just the 3 of us, then Christmas morning (not early though) at my mom's and Christmas afternoon at DH's grandma's. Do you decorate at all?  Just inside.  We've had our tree up and decorated since Thanksgiving weekend and now it has presents under it Smile.  We have 3 floating candles (Christmas themed) on our sofa table, and that's where I've been putting all of our Christmas cards we receive.  That's the extent of my decorating.

What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least? Looking forward to getting closer to our move, and to getting out of town for a while. Not looking forward to 16 hours each way in the car with a toddler.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite? Yes. Favorite is O Holy Night by John Berry, least favorite is that Hippopotamus song. Gag!

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly? DH's family

Do you decorate at all? We usually go all out. We didn't this year for two reasons. 1) I don't think I could keep Nolan from climbing to the top of the tree! (That kid could climb Everest right now if I gave him the time and space!), and 2) I don't want to unpack decorations just to have to turn around and repack it to move. We'll just make up for it next year!

  • What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Seeing my family- I've only seen my parents once this year. The last time I saw my sister and other relatives was last Christmas. Time off from work- I can sleep in almost every day!

Least?  Seeing my family. Spending several days living with my parents again, particularly my dad, drives me crazy.

Do you listen to Christmas songs?  Yes, I've been listening to the Christmas music station on and off since the week after Thanksgiving. I can only handle a few songs in a row before I have to change the station though.

If so do you have a favorite? *sings* You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch; the piano tune from the Charlie Brown Christmas

Least favorite? Baby It's Cold Outside -it's just a creepy song; All I want for Christmas Is You- highly annoying; It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year- for a lot of people, it's a depressing time.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with family? My family in the days leading up to Christmas, then H's family for Christmas day and a few days after.

Do you decorate at all? Usually, but this year I was lazy. Two weeks ago H put up the lights outside, assembled the inside tree, and put lights and garland on it. Tonight I finally put about 10 ornaments on the tree and put a snowman on the mantle. I'll probably just hang the stockings and call it good.

What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Least? I'm looking forward to seeing the kids open their gifts.  I'm not looking foward to dealing with my parents.

Do you listen to Christmas songs? If so do you have a favorite? Least favorite?  I like to when I am baking.  My favorite it probably Silver Bells.  I don't have a least favorite though.

Are you spending Christmas at home or with faimly?  The kids and I will do Christmas morning here and then go to my parents house in the afternoon

Do you decorate at all?  We usually do a tree and stockings inside and white lights outside.  We also celebrate Chanukah so I have 3 menorahs next to the tree and a "Happy Hanukkah" sign that hangs next to the stockings.  This year, V made a little tree out of bows and I bought a small one that we put on the dining room table.  We also did stockings, one menorah and the sign.
