10:00 kid's birthday party, what food do you serve?
I have the junk food covered with ice cream/cake/cookies/candy and maybe cake balls if SIL decides to make them. So, what foods would you serve? I don't wanna go overboard since it's after breakfast, but before lunch. Thanks!
Re: 10:00 kid's birthday party, what food do you serve?
i would do veggies & dip, and maybe some other little finger foods, or PB&J finger sandwiches.
frankly, if my kid goes to a 10:00 bday party and eats ice cream, cake, candy, and cookies chances are there isn't going to be a "real" lunch.
my photography blog
something a little salty to counter the sugar... goldfish, pretzels.
part of me says maybe some kind of protein depending on when you'll be serving food at the party.
cookies/candy are take home... cake and ice cream during the party.
Good idea with little sandwiches
mini quiches (the kind you buy at sam's and just warm up)
So Tasty, So Yummy
Kind of this. I'm struggling with the same thing right now...party times and food I mean. I don't really want to do lunch but can't figure out when to have a party that isn't going to be at lunch time or nap time....
Quartzcpw had her kiddos at 9 am, complete with doughnuts and kolaches. It was awesome.
10 am seems to be a pretty standard party time on the kid party circuit and there is always lunch provided in my experiences with it.
So Tasty, So Yummy
I agree with this. I'd expect lunch toward the end of a 10:00 party. Breakfast at a 9:00 party is a good idea too.
I wouldn't expect lunch...but I would offer some salty to balance out the sweet.
Maddie's party was at 10 a.m. last year. This is what we offered:
3 large glass containers filled with different cereals (like a mini candy bar but with cereal). Little cups so they could scoop their own and they ate it dry like chex mix.
Muffins
3 dozen mini pigs in a blanket (made from lil' smokies wrapped in a pillsbury crescent roll, which was made smaller by cutting it length-wise to wrap the mini sausage). I rolled all these the night before so it was super easy to pop them in the oven before the party.
2 dozen Mini quiches from Sam's (oops - I bought these but I think i forgot to put them out after looking at the pics).
Crack dip (mostly for the grownups)
Cheese-its crackers
Carrots, celery, and ranch dip
A plate of sliced summer sausage and cheeses
Juice boxes for the kids. Juice/lemonade in pitchers for adults. Forgot to make coffee but my friends BF asked and offered to make it and MANY of the parents were grateful).

I have hosted parties at this time.
People served bagels, donuts, cereal, pigs in the blanket, fruit (brunch stuff)
of course,
cake!
