Yes, I know I'm a day late...but whatever!
Mine was one for the record books!
Friday we had a roast 30th birthday party for H's friend. The guys roasted him, and they had a whole roast lamb and wild boar...plus sides! The food was awesome, the roast was awesome...good times. PLUS no one spoiled H's surprise party!
Saturday morning/Friday night (at 4am) I woke up to a strange sound coming from our bedroom window (which is on our back deck)...yeah, it was someone trying to break in. I woke H up and we had the following conversation for what felt like an eternity:
H: I can't find my glasses!
Me: Should I call 911??
H: I can't find my glasses!
Me: Should I call 911??
OMG so friggin scary. The dude must've heard us, because he went away as I was calling 911. I wish we would've reacted better/sooner, but it felt like a dream! Plus we were still a li'l drunk from our fun time on Friday. Ugh, not a good way to start an amazing day. Anyway, H thought I was making Christmas cookies with my aunts so he went to hang out with BIL. My mom and I went to the bowling alley, set up, and waited. We had about 50 people there by 2pm! H and BIL showed up at 2:30pm and he was SHOCKED, even though he saw a friend from his former job AND my cousin while looking for a parking spot! He just thought it was a crazy coincidence. (I just uploaded pics of the party on fb). We partied until 1am, and it was great!
Sunday I had to go into work to write people up, bummer. But it was the last opera of the season, so hey - I'll take it.
If you made it through that novel, congrats!!! How was YOUR weekend??
Re: How was your weekend?
The weekend was not bad. We went up to the posh mall on Saturday (a 2 hour drive) and I did not wait in line behind velvet ropes to get in to: Chanel, Tiffany, or the Coach store. But I did spend too much on DH's stocking present. Who knew funky socks for men were so hard to find, and so expensive when you do? But we also finished up most of our shopping for everyone else, and indulged with a dim sum lunch and iced tea (!!!) at the Oriental Tea House restaurant and then stopped for Mexican on the drive home.
Sunday, we had an easy day before a disappointing dinner out with my IL's -- service was terrible, and the food was mediocre at best.
The weekend was not bad. Monday, Monday sucked. I got let go on Monday, so my Christmas is a bit blue now, though I really had finished shopping and still have most of my salary saved. I'm hoping that 2012 brings a good job that lasts longer than 91 days.
I'm sure that was a scary thing to go through, but that convo made me laugh! Plus, I'm glad your H's part was such a hit! That's awesome.
It's Tuesday, how is it I already can't remember what I did this weekend. :? Obviously it was a boring weekend.

My weekend was boring since I was still finishing finals stuff, but last night I went out with my most of my class, some of the second and first years in our department and we started at 7 at a friends house, then sang karaoke from 10-1 and then danced until 3. I actually just woke up
Surprisingly no hangover but I had an awesome night. And now I'm taking one day off before I start my thesis chapter tomorrow...ugh.
Nora - I'm so glad that your H's party was such a big hit! It sounds like tons of fun!! I'm pretty sure my H would kill me if I ever planned him a surprise party
Nora: that's crazy! didn't this happen before? or am I making that up? maybe I had a dream that it happened...weird. Glad you guys are ok!.......and I'm glad the party went awesome!
On Friday we celebrated with my parents that our offer was accepted. Saturday we cleaned and then stopped by the house to check something out. We also went down to Yale to visit DH's grandmother who just had a stroke last week. Good thing the farm is closed this year, although that actually might have something to do with it. Sunday we just hung out and then had dinner at my parents...not too much...
Thanks Panda and Musgral - I'm glad the party was a hit, too! All the stress was worth it...but I don't think I'll ever do it again!
We were definitely laughing as soon as we stopped freaking out. I'm still laughing about it!

No! This is definitely the first (and hopefully last!) time! It would be super weird if you dreamt it, though!
We just cut down our AT&T bill so we could get ADT installed soon, since moving isn't an option until the housing market gets better...so, never, basically. I'm glad H isn't on 3rd shift anymore!

Do you guys rent or do you own a place? If you own your place, check with your home owners insurance if they'll give you a discount for having home security. H works for ADT and often the discount you get from your insurance can pay for at least half of the security system.
hmmm, weird. it must have been a dream, then. Unless someone else had it happen. I dreamt that someone tried to break in with a crowbar in a window at the back of the house. you were telling us about it in a post...
