I know the dr said to wait till 6 months for solids

But I am debating on maybe trying some sweet potato, this boy is eyeballing my sandwich.

Re: I know the dr said to wait till 6 months for solids

  • We started solids at 4 months.
  • I kept expecting our pedi to say wait till 6 months, but she didn't. Standard 4-6 months is what she told us. We started at 5 to compromise.

  • We did 4.5 months when she started being interested in our foods. Our pedi said she'd let us know if she wasn't ready. Fat kid eats everything within her reach now! Our parents probably fed us before 6 months and we lived...

  • Our pedi said anywhere between 4-6 months would be fine, but that we should go by cues. We tried oatmeal with DS around 4 months, and he so wasn't ready. So, we tried again at 5, and it was a hit. He hasn't stopped pigging out since.

  • Ditto above.  4-6m was also suggested at our 4m dr appt to start rice cereal.  We tried rice cereal first, it is gross and he wouldn't eat it.  We started a couple weeks ago with green beans, then squash and are on peas.  He loves them!
  • AAP recommends waiting because of an increased risk for developing food allergies and childhood obesity. 4-6 months should be fine.

  • We were also told anywhere between 4-6 months. B had been staring at our food since just after 3 months, so we started as soon as pedi gave the go-ahead. We did cereal for 2 weeks and then started veggies/fruits.
