Am I the only one?

Who avoids using my mil ID at any cost?

Mine is epically horrendous. Like bad. Joke worthy. I look like a psyc ward patient from the 60s.

I joke with Dh it'll be the picture the show on the news if I ever went off the deep end on someone ("local military wife goes bsc blah blah blah")

Did I say how bad it is? Everyone that has seen it is relentless about how bad it is.

Re: Am I the only one?

  • I avoid using either of my "real" id's(DL and Mil) at all cost but especially my DL.  If anyone asks for a photo id I show them my work ID and hope they won't ask for something more official.

My most recent DL  picture was taken about 5 minutes after I came in from a complete downpour; my hair is soaking wet in a gross bumpy ponytail with mascara bags under my eyes and if you could see more of my shirt you'd probably think I was in a wet T-shirt competition.

I was dry for my most recent military ID picture, but for some reason I was not thinking about the fact that I would be getting my picture taken when I went there.

Edited for spelling mistake and other typo.

This is in response to Killer Cupcake: (for some reason quoting is not working suddenly for me)

haha!  Speaking of photos, I love your siggy picture.  After seeing that, I can't imagine you having a bad picture.

  • I don't usually use it either. Really I only keep it with me on the off chance I need to head up to base.

  • I can vouch for how bad Jilly's is.

I show mine when I'm asking for a discount, but other than that, I generally stick to my DL when I'm off base.  It's for silly PERSEC reasons though, not because of my photo.

  • I use my mil ID everywhere. My DL photo is probably as bad as Jilly's mil ID photo, though I've obvi never seen it. It's horrible. I went in to get my motorcycle license and they took a new photo (I though they'd just use the one from my regular DL so I had no makeup on and my hair was in a knot) and then when my new non-minor DL came in the mail after I turned 21 it had the horrendous photo from my motorcycle license.

I was prepared for my mil ID photo though man. And my Embassy ID photo from Egypt was even better. I wish I could use that mofo.

  • My DL is the only thing that still has my maiden name. I have to use my mil ID w credi/ debit cards.
  • I think you need to PIP it.

  • I've got chipmunk cheeks in my mil ID picture; it looks so silly.  I usually just use my DL because A) I don't have to take it out of my wallet to show it, and B) I feel awkward showing my mil ID outside doing things around base.
  • I don't think I'll pip it, I look so crazy. Dh still can't get out over it.

My drivers license is rock star though

  • Confession: I thought my military ID was bad. Then I got my new Virginia drivers license (I had switched to a SC license while we were living in Charleston) and it is a thousand million times worse. I look like a rabid wildebeest.

I just don't take good ID photos.

Mary, I think it's Virginia licenses. My MIL said that I look like a convict in mine--and I do. It is hideous. If I showed it to LO, it would scare and scar him. I think that the VA DMV is working hard to make sure only VA residents, who don't have a choice, get licenses here.

I use my mil ID more often as my VA picture is horrendous. I wish my CA license was still valid--that was a great picture.
