Derek's going to be out of the house all weekend, so I thought this might be a good opportunity to get some holiday baking done. Last year was my first year doing this, so I haven't really gotten a set pattern or method yet.
So, I ask you this, how much do you give to people? How many different things do you make?
Also, I'm very sad, as I can't find my Martha Stewart Holiday Baking magazine from last year. It had some reallllllly awesome recipes in it that I wanted to make again. Boo.

We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?

Re: Those that gift baking
I've only given out sugar cookies before. I was struggling in college but still wanted to give my friends something so I made red and green crab shaped cookies to give to my friends. I gave them a big tin with around 10-14 large cookies in it.
My MIL always gives out cookies and she usually gives about 5 different types
Sugar, Chocolate chip, maybe chocolate chip with pecans, peanut butter balls, peanut butter thumbprints with a chocolate kiss in them. I think it's the variety that makes it work.
Last year I made 4 different things, I think, and ended up giving each person about 5 of each.
-Pink Peppercorn & Sea Salt Caramels
-Raspberry Sandwich Cookie Pops
-Peanut Butter Blossoms
-I can't remember for the life of me what else I made!
I'm debating if I'm going to be doing it again this year. I really enjoyed it last year but this year has been crazy busy and I don't know if I will have the time/energy.
My ILs always give a little tin full of cookies (different varieties). They get the tins at the $1 store, they are prob like 5" in diameter.
I give my neighbors little bags with buckeyes with our xmas cards. I guess I put like 6-8 in a bag.

Have you tried looking on the website?
I have. Some of them are there, but others (like the ah-mazing Smoky Bacon Ginger Cookies) are not, though I have found them on blogs. I was mostly just wanting to browse and gather inspiration. I like hardcopies for that sort of thing.

It's good to have collections of ideas. I have the baking one from two years ago, and all the cookies look SO good.

Oooooo, that all sounds good. I think I want to do pretzel rods too this year, mostly because, well, I really like them!

I love making pretzel rods because they're the easiest and there's an abundance of cute Christmas sprinkles out there. The butter cookies are my absolute favorite though. It's a variation of Paula Deen's butter cake in cookie form and oh. my. god. If anyone here wants the recipe I'd be happy to share it because everyone deserves to try one of those cookies at least once! Everything in this post sounds delicious, though. I wish we all lived closer so we could do an exchange!
