My parent's dog that they got when I was still living at home, so I always felt he was mine too, died this morning. He was an 11 year old golden/lab mix. He was just being kind of achy and not as spry the last few days and my Mom brought him in and they checked him and didn't find anything obvious and told my Mom to see how he did in a few days before they started doing things like xrays, etc.
This morning he didn't get up when my Mom came down and she coaxed him up and outside to pee where he just collapsed and died. I'm home today and she called me to come help her and we had to get him to the car and bring him to the Vet. It was so sad. Jane LOVES him and was just asking for him this morning. I know she won't really remember him long-term, but I know she's going to be looking for him.
Anyway, no point to this other than to get my feelings out. We still haven't told alll my siblings yet. My brother in Poland was especially close to him and is going to take it really badly since it'll come out of nowhere for him.
Re: My Doggie Died This Morning :(
I feel your pain, my family dog of 17 years had to be put down on Sunday. He was a pomeranian poodle mix. My parents had to make the decision to put him down because he was in heart failure and the treatment they would have given him wasn't likely to work.
Thoughts to you and your family. It is hard to lose a pet, they really are like another family member.
So sorry for your loss. I know how devastating the death of a pet can be.
Hope this helps: http://www.petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm
((hugs)) My mom had to put our dog down early last year (we also got the dog while I was still living at home and in HS). I cried and cried and still get sad when I am at her house and there is no Madison. She has a new dog but it isnt the same. I felt so bad for my mom because the dog was everything to her since she had been living alone for the past several years.
I dread the day that the dog DH and I have passes away. My girls love him.. ugh it's gonna be so sad!! Although he was barking the other day and Abby yelled at him to stop and then goes "ugh, we need to get a new dog cause Manny barks too much!" Thought it was cute, but told her no, we love Manny very much.

I'm so sorry Naylon (and you too, Razzle!). That's such a hard, hard thing to go through. I still remember getting the news about my childhood doggie like it was yesterday, but its been 5 and half years.
I hope you can find comfort during this.
I'm sorry to hear that. T&P to you and your family.
Hugs to you, Megan and Jess. It is so hard to lose a pet, they are a huge part of a family. My parents had to put our pup down in January, and it was so sad.
I hate to even think about anything happening to Tucker, it will literally break my heart. We just love him so very much!
