I think that is a "no" on the mac and cheese

So Coop had some "mac and cheese with veggies" stage 2 puree last night for dinner.  Took his bottle before bed, and went to sleep as usual.

Then at about 10 he was fussy, so I was in comforting him, laid him back in his bed after a diaper change and BLEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHARRRRRFFFF - he forcefully barfed up everything all over everything (bless you, sheet saver,)

Poor kid, once changed into fresh jammies and once the bed had a new sheet saver on it, he was right back asleep.

Not that I don't want the kid to be able to enjoy mac and cheese (hello, it is LIQUID CHEESE BASED, and he wasn't nick named "the Curd" for nothing,) but in this case I am really hoping it was just that the dinner didn't agree with him, and NOT that he is going to have yet another barfing tummy bug.  Christmas travel looms near, after all.

Plus a barfing baby is a sad sight and not being able to do more to help his little self kills me.

(and baby barf smells worse than just about anything I can think of.)

Oh how I hope it was just the mac n cheese.

Re: I think that is a "no" on the mac and cheese

  • Hopefully it was just the mac and cheese.   I give C the purees of fruits and veggies, but the thought of some of those other "meals" in pureed form sounds so repulsive to me.   Soon enough he'll be able to eat soft pasta and cheese, so I'll just let him have it that way.

  • Poor bunny.  Has he had anything dairy based yet?  Maybe he's just not ready for that yet?
  • oh, don't give him that nasty crap! He needs the real stuff!

Ryan always had issues with jarred food.  So we gave her real stuff, just smaller.  Ainsley loved jarred food, and now will only eat bland, boring white carbs.

Maybe Cooper is just advanced and ready for the real thing?

Honestly I am hoping this is exactly what the case is.  He is on a low lactose formula, and when I got the mac and cheese part of me thought "really?  This is ok?" but I have been so paranoid about introducing new foods, I was making an attempt to be a bit less so....

From now through Texas time, only stuff he has had a lot and loves.

And daycare just called to say that he is getting a top tooth too, so that would really be PLENTY to deal with on the plane without the poor kid being sicky too.

I don't know that he is QUITE ready for the real thing - his mashing skills are kind of lacking at this point, but I think there are just going to be some things he doesn't get until he can have the non-blenderfied version, for sure!  :)

  • I'd put money on the dairy part, especially if you had to deal with that with formula.  DS adores dairy now, but I waited to introduce it until he was 10-11 months and big enough for yoghurt.  I had trouble with dairy as a baby too, but it passed by the time I was a toddler. :)  I'm crossing my fingers he's feeling better today!
  • Teething always made Ash more prone to puking too - the combo could have been too much. We never did baby food with Ash, just non-pureed food so I don't know how she'd have done, but I totally agree some food should wait for the real thing, and liquid cheese is totally one of them!
