Organization in a condo...Help!!

Hello everyone,

This is my first post...I'm newly married and looking for some organization solutions. We live in a small 2 bedroom condo. I would like to get some sort of shelving unit for my living room. One that I can add pieces to to make it work for my space. Ideally, I would like to put it around my couch (I've seen pics of that here on the nest)...I'm not sure where to look for one or if there are other shelving options that would work better. I'm looking to mostly store my books and scrapbooks. Right now I have 2 big bookshelves in our second bedroom but we are trying to clean it out a bit as we are TTC and will hopefully need it for a bedroom sooner than later!

 Any advice is appreciated!! Thanks!!

  • I love organizing! I've always had really good luck at Ikea, they have a ton or storage ideas and many are able to be altered depending on your needs! They also always have really nice baskets to put on shelves to organize magazines or smaller items. Good luck on your hunt, let us know what you find.

  • Definitely Ikea. They have a ton of stuff. Their main goal is organizing and getting the most out of small spaces.

Totally worth the trip if you have to make a drive.

  • Thanks!! We don't live too far from 1 so after the holidays I may need to take a trip!!

  • Doeeet! It'll take at least a few hours to get through everything, so plan accordingly.

Good news is, they have really good (yet, cheapass) food in the cafeteria. Swedish meatballs = nom nom nom

  • I second Ikea! We used a lot of their shelving & storage solutions when we were in our tiny condo. They're cheap, functional, and seem to be designed with small spaces in mind. Also, they have a restaurant INSIDE the store. It's amazing lol.

  • If either you are handy or have someone that is that will help you, I am desperately in LOVE with Ana White's website.  DH is making these cubbies for toy storage right now, and they're awesome.  Totally cheap too, and she has plans for all sorts of different add-ons for the cubbies as well as about a million other pieces of DIY furniture.
