OOT friend visiting. any suggestions?
a friend of mine from california is visiting this weekend. he has an interview in seattle on monday.....i hope he gets it!
he's been to seattle before, a few times, but he still wants to "play" while he's here. my typical routine for visitors is pike place, waterfront, troll, space needle if they've never been, ballard locks/fish ladder, paseo's, redmill.....
but he's been to all these places and/or it's not quite the right season to stand outside in line waiting for a cuban sandwich!
any suggestions on what else can be fun? he's looking for less touristy, but still "playing", since he is considering moving here and he needs me to convince him that seattle is awesome.

Underground Tour, if he hasn't been, is one of my favourites; I like having out-of-towners come so I have an excuse to go. XD
Otherwise -- dunno! Depends on his interests. What does he like to do? You'll have an easier time convincing him of Seattle's awesomeness if you tailor it to the kinds of things he might want to do on a random free weekend, I think.
I believe Paseos is closed until after the 1st of the year. So no need to feel bad about not taking him.
Maybe one of the museums, if hes into that. Wine tasting in Woodinville (obviously wouldn't be a ton of fun for you.) Cheesy Christmas stuff?
We did have an amazing dinner at the Space Needle a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately, this isn't the time of year to convince people to move to Seattle. But maybe one of the museums of the underground tour would be fun.

This is good to know. I've wanted to do it for a while, guess we'll have to plan far enough in advance to get reservations!
Amanda - good call on Cap Hill, especially the Rock Box. That place is awesome! You could also swing by Vivace to remind him that Seattle really does have the best coffee.

Occasionally, they have a Sunday walk-in timeslot at around 2:30. You might want to see if they are doing that this weekend.
Wine tasting out in Woodinville: my favorites are Alexandria Nicole Cellars and DeLille's Carriage House.
Bellevue at this time of year is really cute with all their toy soldiers and lights.
You can still do Pike Place, it's just a little colder and go get some hot chocolate from the Chocolate Box place or some tea from Perennial.
Does he do winter sports? XD You could always take him up to Snoqualmie or Stevens Pass. XD

and for the winter sports---the times he visited before with his other friends was to strictly go to whistler (stopped by here), and once because a friend had a buy-one-get-one coupon to snoqualmie........totally random..they live in california. but they made the entire trip just to go, lol.
the time before those two, was strictly to visit me (!!) but this was almost 10 years ago now..
