After looking at the million dollars we put out a month for stupid things, I am looking at ways to cut expenses. Right now we have:
Comcast Triple Play-$215
Verizon Wireless-$200 for 2 lines
Slomin-$30...which we don't need, I have a damn pitbull
I was curious if anyone has some cheaper options? I was looking at Clear internet, and I dont feel we need cell phones and a land line. any suggestions would be appreciated

Re: cutting house bills
We don't ever use our house phone. In fact, I don't even know where the house phones are. We have to have the land line though for our security system. If you need the same thing, can you see about downgrading your triple play to a double play and then just getting a basic phone line?
For cell phones. My mom and I have a family plan with AT&T. I have an iPhone with an unlimited data plan (grandfathered into that though). We pay $112.00 a month for the both of us. My mom just has an ol' skool razr still.
Our alarm company is either 20 or 25 dollars a month so 30 sounds about right I suppose.
yep. What Erin said. Make sure you call the retention department and NOT the regular plain ol' Comcast customer service phone number. The retention department is where it's at.
ETA: We also have 1 million and 1 channels like Erin said on our 2 HD DVR boxes. You're getting bent over a barrel by Comcast right now it seems. I'd give them a call.
We have local channels and high speed Internet for 45
No alarm
We pay 180? For our iPhones!? Might pay less like 160
What the hell?? We pay around $120 for triple play, one HD box, DVR, HBO and Showtime. You are getting screwed in the worst way possible. Call and complain and threaten to quit immediately. We never use the landline but this was the cheapest deal at the time. I don't even know the phone number.
My sister in law and I are on a family plan via verizon..two smart phones unlimited everything and we pay $147. Thats for 400 a month since we never talk on our phones.
My little nuggets
I haven't had a landline since I moved out of my parents' house and have never missed it
We got rid of all the premium channels because we never watched them. We pay about $100 for cable, HD and internet
DS 3.12.08
DD 7.11.09
DD 8.01.13
Definetly call Comcast. We are paying about 170 a month for 2 HD boxes with Starz and internet (which I think is absurd) but DH just scored us 6 free months of HBO and Cinemax because ever since we moved into our house in January, our on demand hasn't worked most of the time, so he called to complain. So I don't really think we can complain about the bill right now until the 6 months of free channels is up. The other problem is DH is not exactly into saving money and since the account is in his name, they won't talk to me unless he is there.
With regard to the cells, where do you stand on your contract in terms of expiration? It may be worth a phone call to find out what your options are if you switch plans based on your usage. Cell phone providers are always adding new plans. We pay 140 a month for two iPhones from AT&t (500 shared minutes I think, unlimited messaging and 200mb data). I get a discount from my seasonal employer, which is why our bill is low. We don't even come close to using the 500 minutes and have a ton of rollover, so I think I will call them after new year's to see what plans are more in line with our usage.
If you can ditch the landline, go for it. We don't even have one and when we did, we never used it.
I wouldn't cut the alarm bill. I wouldn't sleep in our new house if it did not have an alarm (we had 2 dogs). I was a victim of two break ins. The first bumped into my sister and luckily ran away without harming her. The second time we had an alarm and the intruder only got away with our microwave.
The dog may not always be home (vacation.. walk.. park.. vet). The intruder can find a way to distract/harm the dog to get to you and your belonging. The alarm will help send police when you can't call.
I always believe in safety first and i hope you reconsider keeping the alarm.
