I'm excited and scared. We're supposed to close before the end of the month. Its a short sale so things have been up in the air for months. We'll only have a couple days to move out of our current apartment but the house is only about 10 minutes away. I wish I were a she-hulk with a truck. It frustrates me that I can't do it all on my own. (I want to move the current stuff and buy a few more things).
Re: Moving!
congrats!
hire movers or legit day laborers. rent a uhaul or similar. pay guys to load already packed stuff and unload it at new place. you can get help inexpensively that will allow you to get everything moved in just a few hours if you're that close to the new place.
and you said "we." so use the other part of "we" since it's his/her house, too.
yay, that is awesome! And congrats for making it through the short sale process!
In Austin, we have guys at University of TX called Hire-a-Horn. If you have a university near you they usually are pretty inexpensive. I agree about day laborers too just be careful not only due to safety but they're not always experienced. Plus they might not have vehicles so by the time you rented one you might come neat the price of an experienced mover. Craigslist is always good for that kind of thing.
