Christmas Morning Breakfast-recipes needed

We will be out of town for Christmas so we're going to do Christmas for DD on Sunday morning.  This will be the first "Christmas morning" at our house where DD will have an inkling of what is going on so I want to do something special for breakfast.  I also don't want to spend the whole morning in the kitchen.  So - I need your special breakfast recipes that don't require a lot of work :)  I was thinking an overnight french toast but I don't know which recipe to use.  Does anyone have any fabulous recipes (french toast or otherwise) to share?

  • I usually do any of the strata recipes on allrecipes dot com.  My fav is the one with cinnamon raisin bread.  or the actual french toast with blueberries and blueberry syrup.

  • Overnight casseroles are perfect for Christmas morning. Here are the basic recipes for a savory or sweet recipe.

I also love to do homemade cinnamon rolls for a special breakfast, this is a good overnight recipe.

  • Easiest bread pudding french toast!

Costco has some delicious bread pudding right now back in the refrigerated section by the cheese... Slice it into 1-2 inch thick pieces, (it's already cooked), dip it in beaten eggs & pan-fry it in a little butter over med-high heat for a couple of minutes & voila, it's ready!

You probably won't even need butter or syrup as it's already super sweet & moist. I made it for breakfast the other morning at home & it took about 10 minutes.

  • Ive got nothing for you, but I was just wondering where you got your siggy pic taken?
  • Honestly, I just wing it when I make French toast casserole.  I use a loaf of challah, and mix up 8-10 eggs, dump in some milk and half and half, add cinnamon and spices, and drizzle lightly with melted butter.  I let it sit overnight.  Then in the morning, we can add syrup at will.

I also love Pioneer Woman's Sleepin' In omelette.

Ditto D - I did this recipe for Posey's baby shower and it was stellar - you prepare the day before, then pop in to bake the next day.

  • Try this.  You can sub pretty much any veggies, I usually use any leftover veg in the fridge.

6 pieces of day old bread
    9 eggs beaten
2 cups of half & half or milk
    pepper to taste
    1 diced onion
    approx 2 cups cheese

Use whatever vegetables I have in the fridgeSaute the veggies first in a little olive oil to soften or use cold leftovers.

It is best to put it all together and refrigerate it overnight.
    Bake @ 350 for 45 min - one hour.

    Hope this helps!

Also, a fruit platter is always a big hit and easy!!
  • my go to is pioneer womans sleepin in omelet
  • I'm making these with my neice and nephews for Christmas morning. They aren't quite old enough to be into any of the fancier dishes that the adults are having.

I'm not making the donuts, I'll be buying the little ones at the store. Stick out tongue
