Moms, a question about diapers.

I need disposable diaper help. Normally we use cloth diapers, but I don't want to deal with them on our weekend in Chicago, so I thought I would pick up some disposables?  Any advice for sizing or brand?

James is very long and skinny.  He is about 90% for length and between 5-10% for weight.   Wondering if I should size up to help with his length?  It looks like size 2 go to 18 lbs, and he is 14.

Thanks

  • Pampers all the way.

DD is 12lbs and in size 1 still.  She's also long and skinny.  Not sure how much that helps :-/

  • My sister swore by Pampers.

We use Huggies 95% of the time, but buy Pampers sometimes.

    I think a size 2 would work.

  • We were big fans of Luvs. They cinched tight enough on DS, though he was bigger in %ile than James. What is the minimum weight on 2s? I have no frame of reference anymore. ;)

I have heard enough "horror" stories to avoid Target's Up & Up diapers, fwiw.

    size 2's are 12-18, I think

    eta: size 3's are 16-28

  • Pampers.  Go with size 2.  V is long and skinny too, and we never have any issues.

I wouldn't size up, especially since he's on the lean side. You don't want to risk blowing out the legholes (which cannot be made tighter). Size 2 sounds fine.

  • I agree...Pampers size 2. I normally CD as well, but on vacas we disposable. I do use Target brand now that he is older and not having Breast Fed blowout diapers and they work great. But I always used Pampers when he was younger.

  • We used and LOVED the Target diapers lol.  But Ben is a tubby boy so maybe that helped.

  • I have to put out there that we recently tried the Kirkland brand diapers from Costco.  OMG, awful!!!  Those things sucks so bad.  They were always leaking.  We ended up throwing a couple sleeves of them in the garbage, that's how bad they were.  I wonder if anyone else had those issues?

  • Up until DD was 3month old, we used Pampers.  I loved them when she was very young, but when she got bigger (she was always way over the 100%ile from month 1), we found that Huggies worked better for her.  BUT YES, when she was small, Pampers were best.
