Bumbo recall

http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml08/08046.html ( can't make it clicky) honestly it's not the bumbo's fault:(

Re: Bumbo recall

  • Thank goodness the recall is just to get new safety stickers instead of pulling the product and calling it fundamentally unsafe.  Kind of like diaper tables have labels that say "don't leave jr unattended up here" or whatever.

I am sorry - but at some point personal responsibility comes into play - baby on something high off ground = possible risk, please watch baby carefully.

Yep.  Maybe we need signs at each intersection with instructions.  Wink

  • I didn't go to the link, just read the other posts.  I feel deja vu though, I'm pretty sure the Bumbo got recalled and they needed to put stickers on it saying don't put it on a high surface when I was pregnant with one of my other kids.  Please tell me this is an old recall and not that people still couldn't figure out how to keep their kids safe.

  • It is old-ish, MrsGreeko. The release is from May.

This exactly.  It's a shame stupid people can still figure out how to breathe without someone standing right next to them reminding them every few seconds.

Just a quick update - the chair has had a recall reminder as of late as the injuries due to the lack of straps has increased to well over 50 injuries to children. If you have a Bumbo chair and would like it replaced for free, Prince Lionheart who is a competitor to Bumbo, has a safer version of the chair (with straps to prevent wiggling out of the chair) is doing a campaign to replace up to 1,000 Bumbos with their bebePOD. If you want more info you can email us at amanda@brilliantbabyproducts.com. Disclaimer: we are Prince Lionheart's PR agency for this promotion.

Um, this isn't going to solve the problem.  The problem is people putting the chairs on high surfaces and the kids falling out of the chair/off the surface.  All the straps will do is bring the chair down with the kid.
