Input on daycare provider Christmas gift

I'm trying to decide what to get our in-home daycare provider for Christmas. Normally we would just giver her an extra bonus with her normal weekly paycheck, but I thought about doing something a little different this year.

She is currently about 20 weeks pregnant, and I thought it might be nice to get her a gift certificate for a pregnancy massage. After chasing around 2-3 kids everyday (all under the age of 3), I thought it would be a nice gift.

What does everyone else think? I'm fine with doing an extra bonus, or the massage gift certificate, so if it was you, which gift would you prefer?

  • $$$

Only b/c I am one of these people who cannot stand strangers touching me.

  • I would love the massage b/c it's not something that I would buy for myself.  If you do it to a salon and spa she could have her choice of massage, mani/pedi, or to get her hair done.

  • I agree with massage.  We do that every year with our DCP because I know she goes once a month, so it's perfect.
  • I'm putting in a vote for money.  She can use it for a massage :)   But mostly because she might be counting on the cash since that's what you gave last year and I assume she's not getting any paid maternity leave.  She'll need the money.

    thanks to jennied :)

  • We are doing cash/gift card to a store.  Some people as a pp stated, do not like massages so unless you know 100% she does, I would go with the cash.
  • Thanks for the input everyone! I think we will go ahead and do cash again, and that way she can use if for whatever she likes. Smile
