Donating a frozen turkey / ham?

Do shelters accept them? Or is there a place to assist a family in need.

  • Thanks for positng this!  I earned a free turkey from Pathmark and have no use for it, so I was going to just get it and donate it.  I was also thinking about calling my parish- I know they give food to needy families.

When I earned my free turkey at Giant, they had an option where they would donate it for me. Maybe Pathmark has the same program.

  • Catholic Social Services may take it.  I have donated food and baby items to them.  Also, a lot of churches have a food bank for needy parishioners.  You could call one of your area churches and ask them if there is a family they could give it to.

  • The local food pantry I volunteer at would take a frozen turkey.  Not sure if that's the case with all food pantries  You can check Philabundance but I know they mostly only do non-perishables.

Yes this is the issue Philabundence only takes non.

What pantry is it? How far from

    Philly?

  • Cherry Hill Food Pantry.  At Chapel Ave and Kings Hwy, not too far from the mall.  They are only open Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings.
  • Thanks lando!

I found a men's center on arch, st john's who seemed thrilled by it! I will drop it off tomorrow before Frankford hall.

  • I was actually thinking about St. Johns.  They will take them?
