Have you seen the Kmart layaway stories?
I've been following the stories where people have been paying off other people's layaway bills at Kmart (and some at Walmart). I had heard about it earlier this week, but I guess it's really spreading and a lot more stories have been popping up. I was crying reading the article today. We received a small settlement from our carbon monoxide case this fall and DH and I decided we are totally going to Kmart this weekend and paying a couple of layaway bills. We were poor growing up and I know my mom used layway, so I just feel this is a really good way to spend that money. Especially considering the carbon monoxide incident happened the week before Christmas and I almost lost my babies, I think giving Christmas to other people's babies seems a good way to pay it forward with the money.

That is so awesome! I love those stories!
What a sweet thing to do! I hadn't heard of this until now....
I have heard of the Drive Thru Difference people are doing, and thought that was cool, but I really like this.

The stories are killing me, they are making me cry!
I saw one about a woman in Des Moines who had to leave behind 3 years of toys when her kids were little, and then paid off 10 now that she's doing better.
You are so sweet to do this.
Katie Talks About...
this post brings tears to my eyes. that is very generous and giving of you.
Love that you're doing this!
Side note: Holy smokes your kids are huge! What cuties! When did our babies grow up? I looks like such a big girl!
This is a great idea and it is wonderful that you are going to do this.
I always feel better buying for others than my family, expecially around Christmas. My parents were pretty poor when we were little and still helped others when in need- so if they could do it on what they had then there is no reason we can't.

Clothing is huge I think. Toys are great but clothing is a necessity and something that makes kids feel proud and confident to go to school. Also necessities like socks and undies too. I don't know if there is a way to find out if the customer is elderly or there are items for the elderly but they are often forgotten. I might also look to see if there are accounts with other necessities on them. You are doing such a wonderful thing!
