Gifts for a 2 year old boy?

I need to find a gift for a friends little one. I've totally forgotten what I bought nephew #1 for Christmas. Nephew #2 only wanted big boy toys due to big brother. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Mega blocks or maybe one of those dump trucks from "Little People".

there are different types out there

Oh, I'm going to have to get those for Evan.

My answer is anything that makes noise. And he loves to build, music, cars, and trains.

If you go to the Lakeshore Web site you can sort by age to get ideas.

  • Cars, trucks, trains, tools, and any sort of sports item are big hits in my house.  Cooper is getting a Rody Pony, a sit and spin and a ball from Santa and I think a t-ball set from an aunt-- those are the things I KNOW he will love because they are active toys.  For smaller toys he's also getting this and these because he is really into "fixing" things.
My big boy is bounding towards 3! Hoping to add a sibling. image Hipster dog is not impressed.
  • Cars, trucks, emergency vehicles.

architectural blocks (Melissa & Doug makes an awesome set and blocks are s good for development)

Beginning jigsaw puzzles. My kids LOVE these. They are also very good for development.

  • Our almost 5-year-old bought his 2-year-old brother a Woody (Toy Story) doll at the Disney Store today for Christmas. The 2-year-old is more character driven than his brother. He is going to be so happy.

Books always work. The movie and the book Gruffalo are very good and meet with 2-year-old approval.

Duplo Blocks - there are kits for every theme from animals to Lightning McQueen - the regular blocks are great too.

  • We have some of those gears on the side of the fridge, and EVERY CHILD that can walk by the fridge plays with them.  LOVE them!!!  I bought ours off QVC late one night before Christmas...lol.

    also, nesting/stacking blocks.  classic!
