A Friday dating story

Last night I went out to dinner with a guy who also grew up in MN.

Nice guy, we got along ok for the awkward first date stage.  But he grossly misrepresented himself in his photo (met online).  Let's say it was obvious that the photo was taken a few years ago.  He was a teddy-bear kind of body type and I don't mind that at all...but it had escalated.  I'll leave it at that.

Something interesting, though.  He's a homeowner who lives in a neighborhood I once rented in.  I asked him a few questions about his house, etc. and he asked me who I had rented from, because maybe he knows her now.  I told him my old landlady's name and he said "that's my house."

The guy bought the house I used to LIVE IN years ago.  We both cracked up.  I could describe the layout to him, which bedroom I was in, the fact that the master has a whirlpool tub.  Unbelievable.  Apparently, my old landlady couldn't afford the mortgage and had to move to a trailer. lol.

Small friggin' world!  He asked if he could call me and I said yes, but I doubt anything else will happen.

Another date tonight with someone else, wish me luck.

  • Whoa - freaky!  So....did you guys "share" a bedroom? Wink

    Good luck on tonight's date!

    This is my siggy.
  • Small world!

On the misrepresentation, I have to admit that would bug me! I'm sure it's a common thing to do, but I think it's kind of silly...once people meet you IRL, they're going to know that you were being dishonest. How is that a good way to start a potential relationship?

Anyway, GL on the date tonight!

lol, nah. I was upstairs in a teeny guest room.  He owns the place so he's in the master.

  • The only reason to misrepresent yourself is if you're never going to see this person.  Don't they realize that the jig is up the moment they meet you?  I wouldn't go on another date with him solely due to his idiocy and lack of forethought.

Eh. I would assume that he chose the picture he liked the best of himself, not the picture that he thought represented himself the best. I would probably do the same.

Why would you want to set up expectations that you are incapable of meeting?

I thought I was the only person who thought this. I loved dating.
