QOTD Friday

What's your favorite cookie to bake? Willing to share a recipe? :)

Re: QOTD Friday

  • I found a recipe for these cookies called "Mexican orange sugar cookies." How authentic are they? Not sure, but they're actually very similar to another cookie I make called encanelados. These are a bit lighter and kind of crumbly, but they're pretty good.

Tricks: I definitely use butter instead of vegetable shortening. You also have to let these guys cool for best taste. I also don't roll the dough; I drop them and kind of flatten them with a spoon.

Then I try not to eat the whole batch.

  • Today I'm baking s'mores cookies. Not sure if they will be my new favorite or not yet. My favorites to make are chocolate thumbprints. They take hours to make, but everyone loves them so much. I'll share the recipes later.

Edit: Here's the link for the s'mores cookies.

  • I have a new favorite:  Pumpkin Snickerdoodles

    Recipe:  http://fakeginger.com/2011/10/31/pumpkin-snickerdoodles/

These got rave reviews at home and at work when I made them recently.

  • I have a sugar cookie recipe that I love.  They are aren't the thick kind you ice, but thin and crispy.  I made the dough up last night and will bake them tonight/tomorrow.

  • My favorite is my MIL's sugar cookies. They are my favorite, kind of doughy with a great lemony flavor.

    Sugar Cookies

     Ingredients

1-1/2 - cups of white sugar

1 ?cup of shortening (I prefer Crisco)

    2-eggs

    1-teaspoon of vanilla

    1-teaspoon of lemon extract

    2-teaspoons of baking soda

    1/2- cup sour cream

    4- cups of flour

Extras:frost with vanilla frosting and top with sprinkles

Cream together 1 ? cups of sugar and 1 cup of shortening.

Add 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1 teaspoon of lemon extract and mix.

Combine 2 teaspoon of baking soda with one half cup of sour cream in separate bowl and then add it to first bowl.

Add 4 cups of flour. Slowly until it is all combined.

On a pastry cloth roll it to about ?? to ?? thick. I usually make them closer to ??.

Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes. If you want them chewy don?t wait until they are brown on top. Just get them light brown on the bottom.

These make excellent cookie cutter cookies. Once cookies have cooled you can frost them and top with sprinkles.

  • Well these aren't cookies and don't require baking, but I have still loved making them. They are Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Balls and they are delicious (I'm sure many of you have seen them bouncing around pinterest). I brought some for my holiday party at work and had many people ask for the recipe. I decorated them with red and green sprinkles to make them more festive.

  • I really like these Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies.  I drop the shortening and up the butter, 'cause I'm crazy like that.

Also, these are probably the best chocolate chip cookies ever.

  • I'm not a big cookie baker.  I generally prefer making cakes.  However, we had a cookie exchange at work earlier this week, so I made these:  http://www.bakerella.com/triple-chip-cookies/ and they were to die for.  I made five dozen and took two dozen to the event.  The other 3 dozen are currently all in B's tummy.  I think he left me 3.  So sad, but I guess that means I will just have to make them again.

  • I love you all :)

I can't remember the last time I baked cookies - but I was just telling DH I wanted to bake some for my grandpa this weekend, since he's alone at Christmas.

  • I get raves about these cookies anytime I make them!

    Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Seriously, chocolate peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and chopped up peanut butter cups.  I'm making them Monday for work.  The recipe says it makes 3 dozen but it actually will make 4 dozen.  Super easy, too.

  • I'm obsessed with butter cookies. It's like a mixture between cake and a cookie and it's just melt-in-your-mouth good. I posted a recipe in my blog:
