April 2010 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination

Re: Friday Five
1. What is your favorite holiday dish from Thanksgiving through New Years? As a kid my mom made corned beef sandwiches (like Reubens) on Christmas eve, which were amazing, I made them last year for my brothers and us.
2. What is a holiday tradition from your childhood that you want to continue with your kids/ stepkids? Opening one present Christmas eve then getting up early to open the rest of them!
3. Do you dress up for holiday gatherings? Not really, we're usually pretty casual though my 91 yr old grandma puts us all to shame by dressing nicer than the rest of u :-)
4. Are you and DH going out for NYE, going to friends or staying home/ hosting a party? We're going out to a hockey buddy's which should be fun!
5. Plans for the weekend? My brother Robbie, SIL and niece came to visit!! They decided earlier in the week to come out this way and they arrived last night, so we are having dinner with them tonight, getting together tomorrow early in the day and DH & I are going to a holiday party at another hockey buddy's in the late afternoon. Sunday hopefully get to see bro, SIL & niece again before my first Arbonne party by myself at my local bro's hosted by my other SIL! Wish me luck :-)April 2010 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination
1. What is your favorite holiday dish from Thanksgiving through New Years? Cheesey potatoes and pumpkin pie. Not together, of course.
2. What is a holiday tradition from your childhood that you want to continue with your kids/ stepkids? We don't really have one. We alternate Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with Amanda's mom so we just kind of go with the flow.
3. Do you dress up for holiday gatherings? Somewhat. I usually do leggings on Thanksgiving so I can pig out and not deal with buttoning jeans.
Christmas Eve we go to church so I dress up for that, then nice jeans on Christmas Day. When I was single my friends & I did hall parties on NYE every year and it was all about finding a new floor-length dress, etc. but now we have it with Mike's family and just wear jeans but I always wear a nice shirt.
4. Are you and DH going out for NYE, going to friends or staying home/ hosting a party? Going to SIL's house like we do almost every year (although last year we went to my cousins' because Mike was fighting with his family at the time). This time it's my other SIL's 50th birthday and they're celebrating it on NYE. It's a suprrise to her though.
5. Plans for the weekend? Christmas party tonight at one of Mike's customers. Dinner tomorrow with his aunt & uncle then possibly a get together at my co worker's house for her birthday. Sunday his nephew, wife and son are coming over for dinner. Last minute errands and baking both days as well.
1. What is your favorite holiday dish from Thanksgiving through New Years? I love sweet potato caserole with mini marshmallows. I usually only eat it once during the holidays and it's the only time of year.
2. What is a holiday tradition from your childhood that you want to continue with your kids/ stepkids? Decorating the tree as a family. My dad would always get it set up and put the lights on, but us kids had free reign on ornaments and tinsel. It was fun to sit around as a family, drink hot cocoa, listen to Christmas music and decorate the tree.
3. Do you dress up for holiday gatherings? We don't get really fancy, but we were never allowed to come to the table in pjs.
4. Are you and DH going out for NYE, going to friends or staying home/ hosting a party? We're not doing anything. I probably won't even be able to stay awake til midnight, but we shall see. I might make my H buy me some sparkling apple cider since I can't drink champagne this year.
5. Plans for the weekend? Tonight is H's company Christmas party. It should be fun, it's at a comedy club and we get a nice buffet for an hour before the show. Saturday we are getting new cable installed (switching from Comcast to Verizon) and I want to go to Aldo to find new shoes. My leather dress shoes are killing my feet so I want to find something with more stretch. Sunday I'm not sure. We're really going to try to relax this weekend though.
1. What is your favorite holiday dish from Thanksgiving through New Years? probably pumpkin pie...DH doesn't care for it so I don't make it at home
2. What is a holiday tradition from your childhood that you want to continue with your kids/ stepkids? going to look at the Christmas lights and while we were gone, Santa would come. I also like the idea of getting new pjs for Chrismtas every year that we open on Christmas Eve
3. Do you dress up for holiday gatherings? it's usually jeans and a nice sweater or top, nothing too fancy
4. Are you and DH going out for NYE, going to friends or staying home/ hosting a party? we are hosting, and I can't wait. This is when we do Christmas with our friends too, so we exchange gifts, eat lots of yummy apps and play games all night. It's so much fun
5. Plans for the weekend? tonight Target & Kohls for sure, maybe groccery shopping too; Saturday grocceries (if I don't do it tonight), oil change, Sam's, wrapping, laundry, cleaning, and the list goes on and on.... Sunday church and then the first of 6 family Christmas parties.

3. Do you dress up for holiday gatherings? No, we have always been casual
4. Are you and DH going out for NYE, going to friends or staying home/ hosting a party? Undecided for now. We are invited to 2 different in home parties, but I kind of want to go out, so we need to figure it out.
5. Plans for the weekend? Gym tonight. Tomorrow errands and cleaning, then DH's work Christmas party, then 2 other possible parties after that. Sunday we are flying to my parents.
1. What is your favorite holiday dish from Thanksgiving through New Years? My mom's sweet potato casserole. Except that she didn't make it this year, and my sister made some yucky one with bananas and other weird stuff in it. I was so disappointed

2. What is a holiday tradition from your childhood that you want to continue with your kids/ stepkids? Movies and Chinese food on Christmas day :0

4. Are you and DH going out for NYE, going to friends or staying home/ hosting a party? Going to friends, we just have to decide which ones. Two of the couples we're closest with are having people over so we need to pick one.
5. Plans for the weekend? Tonight - nada. Tomorrow, errands during day, holiday party in the evening. Sunday - just watching football! I am pretty much done work after today until January 3rd (!!!) so the main plan is to catch up on sleep.
1. What is your favorite holiday dish from Thanksgiving through New Years? Stuffing! I could eat it every day
2. What is a holiday tradition from your childhood that you want to continue with your kids/ stepkids? Going out as a family to pick out and cut down our own Christmas tree.
3. Do you dress up for holiday gatherings? It depends what it is...this year, we don't have any too dressy, so I'll wear dark jeans and a nice top
4. Are you and DH going out for NYE, going to friends or staying home/ hosting a party? We actually have a wedding to go to that a bunch of our friends will be at. I think it will be a ton of fun and I'm really looking forward to it!
5. Plans for the weekend? Tonight DH is working, so I'm going to try and finish my shopping. Tomorrow is Christmas with my dad's family, so that's always fun! Sunday will be relaxing, cleaning and wrapping gifts!

1. What is your favorite holiday dish from Thanksgiving through New Years?
That's a tough one (you all know how much I love food) - but I guess it's all the baking. It's the only time of year that I would bake 5 different kinds of cookies in one week haha!
2. What is a holiday tradition from your childhood that you want to continue with your kids/ stepkids?
On Christmas Eve, one of the men in the family (lately it's been DH) dresses up as Santa after dinner and gives out all the gifts. It was always my favorite holiday when I was a kid, so exciting!!!!

Not really - jeans and a sweater mainly - I just wanna be comfy
4. Are you and DH going out for NYE, going to friends or staying home/ hosting a party?
