One more poll, when do you open presents?
We always opened presents on Christmas Day. My sister was horrified to find out her husband opened them on Christmas Eve. She pretty much made giving up that tradition a condition of marriage.
So when do you open your presents?

Re: One more poll, when do you open presents?
kids get one gift on Christmas Eve (Christmas book and pajamas)
christmas morning - stockings and Santa gift
then after Christmas breakfast - all other gifts
Kinda both, but DH and I grew up both doing it Christmas morning,.
But now we usually celebrate with MIL, BIL and SIL on Christmas eve, so we exchange gifts with them then.
And then Christmas morning- we do almost everything else, until with meet with either FIL and SMIL or my family in the afternoon and exchange gifts with them.
So mostly, Christmas morning.
I so wish we could get back to just celebrating with one family, but it's never going to be like that again. This is the best comprimise we could come up with.
Christmas morning. Although at some point, maybe around junior high, we started opening 1 gift on Christmas Eve.
I'm debating starting the tradition of opening pajamas on Christmas Eve, or just giving DD her pajamas.
Katie Talks About...
We open presents all day for 2 days.
Christmas eve we open stuff from my grandparents, aunt, and uncle. We also let G open gifts that people out of state sent. Then we exchange gifts with my dad and nephews. Then we open 1 gift each at MIL's.
DH and I used to open gifts on christmas eve until last year because christmas day is crazy.
Now we wake up around 6 and do stockings, santa, and DH and I exchange. Then we open gifts with his mom's family (aunts, uncles, grandpa, etc.) Then we oexchange with MIL and SIL's. Then we do the extended family on my dad's, DH's great aunts, and his grandmother.
Mama's Gonna Buy You A Mockingbird
We have always done Christmas day, occasionally with a small present opened Christmas eve. DH always did one present Christmas eve. I keep toying with the idea of doing a book and/or pjs on christmas eve. Plus, with the kids small and easily overwhelmed by gifts since we have my MIL, SIL, neice and my family over Christmas morning, doing a few presents xmas eve might help spread out the madness.
This year, we'll open presents with MIL & SFIL at their house on the 23rd.
The 24th we go to FIL & SMIL's for lunch, then presents, then church, then that whole side of the family meets at an uncle's house for dinner. There is usually one present per kid, and the aunt sends us home with gifts of homemade jelly, bread, etc. I baked for everyone there last year, and will be giving out homemade stuff there.
The 25th we open presents here with the boys, and will head over to my parents' house in the afternoon for presents & dinner.
Chaos.

Growing up it was always Christmas Day. We'd usually beg to open 1 on Christmas Eve, but weren't always successful.
Now with H's family, we all gather together on Xmas Eve, so we open the gifts we exchange then. We do my family on Xmas Day, and open those gifts then.
Growing up it was one small one on Christmas eve and the rest on Christmas day.
Before DS we would open our gifts to each other on Christmas eve or even the day before since we had all the family stuff.
Since Blake was born it's Christmas day. I'd probably do one on Christmas Eve but we usually travel (1.5 hours one way) and get home late. We do open presents from FIL's side on Christmas eve. Our/Santa presents Christmas morning. MIL's side Christmas late morning/early afternoon. We end up spending about 6 hours in the car between Christmas Eve and Day.

Growing up, it was one Xmas Eve, the rest Xmas Day. DH's family is German, so it's everything Xmas Eve and stockings on Xmas Day. I don't know what we'll do for our LO when she's old enough to care.
My favorite was my mom's family. They're German Catholic, so they'd go to midnight mass, an adult would "get sick," go home & put out the presents. Everyone would come back and see that "Santa came" while they were at church. The kids would open presents and everyone would have breakfast at 1 AM. Awesome.
When I was little we picked one gift to open on Christmas Eve and the rest were opened on Christmas morning. When I was in high school we started opening all of them on Christmas Eve after Mass and then opened Santa gifts on Christmas morning.

DS -- 3YO
As a kid, we'd do most on Christmas Eve, Santa present Christmas morning, then drive 1.5 hours to Grandma's and open her presents (as well as one we brought) there.
Over the last few years, we've done a bit of both, usually depending on when BIL and SIL are available. It seems like we usually do Christmas Eve dinner at ILs, Santa Christmas morning, presents at ILs on Christmas Day, then our presents at home on Christmas night. I guess we're not that set on tradition!
